09 Passat Parking Brake Problems

Vehicle came in with parking brake stuck and bad module.

Replaced and coded module, did basic settings for various required sensors.

Will not allow basic settings for parking brake- not sure if this is due to "functional restriction" fault in module or fault in steering assist? Could not perform basic settings for steering limit stop either.

Yeah, VW Gen 3 EPB modules were somewhat recently superseded to the latest Gen 4 controllers and that causes issues at times. This was the most recent example in forum that I can think of.

Are you entirely sure the parking brake was OFF before attempting to run the Basic Settings? That will prevent opening, closing and the function test but I don't know if it would qualify for a "Functional Restriction".
