Dear all,

Once again, I need help. I brought the car to Midas, where I had done brakes change on previous Q5 - 2011 without any problems.

Today - they said that they can't get the rear calipers released with their software.

Can this be done with VagCom?

Please advise.

Thank you!

This is your EPB module, right?

Code:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 53: Parking Brake (----) Labels: 8K0-907-801-V2.clb
   Part No SW: 8K0 907 801 M HW: 8K0 907 801 J
   Component: EPB-4 H01 0004
   Revision: -------- Serial number: 00000001412635
   ASAM Dataset: EV_ParkiBrake 001028
   ROD: EV_ParkiBrake_VW51.rod
   VCID: 39730B7CB8D33B8E8D-806C

No fault code found.

If so, it would expect it to be done via the following Basic Settings:
IDE03331-MAS00478 -- Start lining change mode
IDE03330-MAS00478 -- End lining change mode

Set and release parking brake, making sure battery charger is hooked up :
53-parking Brake > basic settings

Start lining change mode ( to release motor )
Change pads
End lining change mode (to repress motor)

just completed a job on a same Model Q5

Thank you!

Ugggh, I am not sure what the EPB module is :(.

Also, I am not putting OEM pads. Does that change anything?

Have you seen this Ross-Tech video (link below) about the EBP (Electronic Parking Brake) and as long as the brake pads are the correct size/type, should be fine.

Electro-Mechanical Parking Brakes (EPB): How to do rear brakes

Battery charger?

- Yes!, you need to keep the correct battery voltage to that Electronic Parking Brake controller so it does not get damaged.

Hope this helps,

Thank you!!!

What do I need to do to keep the voltage - get a car battery charger and plug the car to it? Sorry, electric stuff is totally not my forte :).

If Midas is doing the work, ask them to connect a charger; they should have one and know how to use it.

Just making you aware of spare parts but free up of mechanical's always works well when proper prep is done before starting job.

Motors are cheap to buy now..........
