I am new to this forum, I will try to comply with forum rules that I have gotten familiar with. I am a happy owner of 2004 Audi A8L, the car is all stock, not modified, all parts purchased from local audi dealer.
The issue I am experiencing is inability to reset the 02596 Rear Brake Pads Worn Fault that is stored. Everything else regarding parking brake and brakes seems normal.
I need support on how to clear this fault out of my dashboard.
Below is chain of events:
I purchased new rear brake pads and rotors from audi dealer.
I got familiar with VCDS procedure "Electro-Mechanical Parking Brakes (EPB): How to do rear brakes"
Yesterday I finally got to service my rear brakes, got my ipad, laptop with VCDS, battery charger (25Amps), tools and got to work.
So I followed the VCDS procedure to the letter until the 4:11 of the video when it asks to check if there are any fault codes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFZJj39FZ3s. In the video there were no faults, I had two, one for brake pads worn and one for brake pads worn implausible signal. I moved on to finish the procedure as per the video and after the function test was performed, I attempted to clear the faults in parking brake module, the implausible signal fault cleared, the worn brake pads never did. I repeated this procedure several times as per Ross Tech video (older audi A8 models may need to have adaptation done several times in order to clear fault) No effect. I drove approx 50 miles today, tried to clear the fault again, no success.
For the record, the fault I am trying to clear is from approx 3K kms ago when it initially appeared. The battery voltage during the whole operation was supported with 25 Amp charger and was trending above 13 Volts (I did tests on that charger prior to doing the brake service as I was not sure how many amps the brake motors pull so I turned all lights on and fans but didn't start engine, the voltage stayed above 12.8V during that load.)
