VCDS always sends back the same number of bytes it originally read from the module, just modifying the ones relevant to the changes made by the user. I am note sure how confident I would be in modifying that behavior without having that module to test ODIS on.

Here is another piece to the original challenge:
    (1) Adaptation of channel “IDE06688-Auxil. heater activation” was accepted.
    (2) However, the original example to adapt channel “IDE06690-MAS05059-Auxil. heat control parameters-Lower temperature threshold: ambient temperature” still failed as described on first post.

    VCDS Version: 19.6.2.0 (x64) HEX-V2 CB: 0.4513.4 Data version: 20190930 DS308.0

Meanwhile, how to unlock this heater?
Haven’t happened yet but would be nice to be prepared… Seems that the method described in http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/02251 is not available.

    Adaptation map attached.

For unlocking, maybe there is something in basic settings? Like in MQB cars, where basic setting "Disengaging heater" is used to unlock heater.

Thanks, there indeed is the selection "Disengaging heater" available. Definitely will try if/when it gets locked.
