A check engine light was activated on my wife's 2008 A4 Quattro Sedan, however my HEX–NET [recently updated to the latest software/firmware] will not read OBD II addresses in the ) in the 01 – 05 address ranges.

DTCs and Pending DTCs cannot be accessed, and the OBD II DTC/s Cannot be erased in order to test what trips the DTC/s.

This problem has been intermittent on this particular vehicle.

Doe anyone have any insight into this issue.

Thank you,
Vincent

I'm sorry that was a partial answer. I'm using VCDS-Mobile on my iPhone with access to the Internet via my local network.

Are you just doing an Auto-Scan? Or have you tried accessing 01-Engine directly?

Have you saved the scan?

Have you got a PC you can try with VCDS?

Hi Uwe, I do have a PC to use, and will try that later today when the car is back here. I tried to do an Auto Scan, but the VCDS-Mobile app could not identify the vehicle model, so I ran a selected scan. I did save the scan, but there are no address before address 08.

BTW I also tried to access address 01 directly, but could not, so I have no method to identify the cause of the check engine light.

2008 A4 is still a B7/8E chassis car, right? Those don't have a proper CAN gateway and can't be auto-identified.

I did save the scan, but there are no address before address 08.
Post it up. It's entirely possible there are clues in there.

But please also try VCDS from a PC.
