Port Status OK, Interface Not Found

Hi, I sent this to support, but also posting here in case there's quicker response..... it is the weekend.

I'm trying to use my VCDS with my 2008 Audi A6 3.2 quattro. I just updated from v17.3 to v18.2. Never used my VCDS on my A6 -- I had used it on my S8 with great success last year.

I'm getting the error message port status ok, interface not found. The A6 key isn't working (only MMI starts, the dash stays off, likely a problem with the ignition module error code), so I used the bypass method highbeam/hazards/brake, but no luck.

I'm thinking maybe a driver issue, but unsure. It tried automatically downloading something, but it froze in the middle of the install.

I've hit a wall, and I need to clear my codes so I can use my A6 again. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

The interface in question is a HEX-V2, right?

What is the behavior of the LEDs on the interface when plugged into your computer (no car).

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

Are you absolutely sure your shortcuts, VCDS icons, 'pinned to task bar' etc. point to the latest install of VCDS? I have a beta folder and release folder. If I test with 17.12.0 I also get 'Interface not Found':

    Code:
    ---------------------------
    VCDS Beta 17.12.0: Port Test
    ---------------------------
    Port Status: OK
    Interface: Not Found!
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------
    ...but with the latest release:

    Code:
    ---------------------------
    VCDS Release 18.2.0: Port Test
    ---------------------------
    Port Status: OK
    Interface: Found!
      Type: HEX-NET
      Version:
        CB: 0.4422.4
        FW: 0.254
        WiFi: 310C
      Status: Questionable
CAN: Testing, K1: NO POWER, K2: NO POWER
        VBat: 0.01V, VIgn: 0.01V
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------
Incidentally, you can copy the text of the Port Test dialog by doing Ctrl+C when it is displayed.

    RED RUM

Lets isolate the interface to another USB port or even plug it into a vehicle to see if when plugged in it works or resets it?

Uninstall VCDS and do a fresh install maybe or to earlier version to isolate if hardware vs software.

Thanks guys. Just for documentation purposes:

    1) Confirmed I was pointing to the correct version
    2) Confirmed the USB port wasn't dead -- I switched it to each of my ports and had the same issue
    3) Ran the VCIConfig -- found an update, installed it, and I think that fixed it! It now says interface found! Thanks Uwe.
