For a few weeks i get the message #please drain off oil# ,when checking oil in the MMi
The car has driven about 8000 miles since oil change
Its has drive 80000 miles , and i changes the oil every 10000 miles
The oil eating is about 1 litre every 10000 miles , not many for a diesel
Have made a VCDS scan and have no motor error codes all OK , except the feul cap error months ago
I opent the bonnet and opent the oil cap to see if the oil ventilation works
There some smoke comes out , not a lot , and the oil cap dont jump or fly a way , its stays nicely in place
After closing the bonnet the oil reading on MMi , there is no data available for a few days , whats normal
The message #please drain off oil # is still there after a few days
I think the oil level is measered not with a level sensor , but something with pressure sensor
What can be the problem , a bad feul injector , a bad pressure sensor , a compression leak , a coolant leak , or something else ?
What do you think ?
Our just dont worry about it and drive on

Oil level sensor in pan faulty or oil level to high or raised due to contamination with diesel fuel.

Verify sensor in pan with MMI and OBD with tests in RTFB and WD to verify calibration.
Read SSP and JPPSG

it sounds seriously with the diesel pollution
I do all the oil level tests measurements with VCDS tomorrow
BTW can i re-calibrate the oil sensor in VCDS ?

We did a quick oil change by a friend
He had a story about the oil contamination , its all about the regeneration from the cat and the euro 5 norm
The regeneration process gets some extra diesel for extra heat , when this process is cut off , you arrived at destination , and several times the extra diesel gets in to the oil.
Somehow this mixiture gets in the intercooler , If one then give full trotle for cleaning the exhaust , this stuff goes to the intake and gets on fire , and the engine cannot turn be off running wild, engine finito
He did this time not top off the oil , but a 1/2 litre less than the max level
Its has somewhat with the update off the sjoemel software from audi , the regenarition process is more often make

The oill level indicator has still needs data for the correct oill level in mmi

An oil consumption test and sump level analysis will be required to determine contamination levels.

I would have a look at injectors & to see if they are out of balance or dumping and verify the PCV is removing oil blow by vapors properly.

It is true after SMOG updates & to deal with issues worldwide this will use extra fuel and regeneration times + extra urea "if" applies to application region.

The test for injectors is the one with the 4 cups at 2000 rpm and motor at 800 rpm , i get first some seals for the injectors , for no leaks
The PCV test , whats the easy way to do it ?
1)The exit tube from the PVC goes to the exit air filter , and all that all next to the entrance turbo
Can i take off the tube from intercooler , our before the the turbo , and see for some oil residue ?
2)For the working Ventilation , Maybe take off the cap oill filling and see thats the cap dont jumps ?
You see I dont know many , but a good tip get me somewhere

2)when driving , what is the right stuff , the vacuum meter read constant vacuum , our gets higher with higher rpm?

You will have to establish a method of testing on your own, for PSI and Vacuum observed under boost, idle and idle offset, full throttle, steady TV points or deceleration, cross ref to MAP sensor in a log with TV angle.

Additionally create a test port that is resalable using good engineering judgment.

Might I suggest taking readings from cars that are running proper in your geographic area, further making a chart to get the average since altitude above sea-level will be a factor.......and not the "flat earth" kind! :rolleyes:

There is (was) no dipstick in my S4, instead relying on the 'electronic dipstick' but there is a place to fit one and a suitable dipstick can be bought from Audi for not much cost...

I have buy a adjustable dipstick , first looking at my dealer with a very high price , there have said DO NOT leave the dipstick in the car when running , our your get great problems
Instead i have buyed the dipstick from internet for the 1/3 price dealer

BTW the TV angle is it the Trothle valve angle , i think that ???
