All,
My ACC - and a few other electrical things related to keyless entry - are not working. I purchased this Q7 on 31 Jan 2018 at 109,xxx km and have not yet cleared the codes from the computer. I've had my VCDS for years for my old Q7, and have just finally scanned the codes on my 'newer' Q7 for the first time today, 5 April 2018. I will clear the codes, drive it around, and rescan it, but before doing that I wanted everyone's take on error code 01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded. I think this is what's preventing my adaptive cruise control from working, and I'd really like to have that available.

I think the Incorrectly Coded DTCs are due to the Unregistered Trailer module. I would fix that first, then clear fault codes.

Thanks. I've been following the instructions located at http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Trailer_Hitch_Retrofitting_(4L), but they're not comprehensive enough for me to resolve this. One thing I realized is that this Q7 has an aftermarket trailer hitch system (Westfalia european system), so it looks like the installation was just not coded at all.

Here's what I did:
Updated the Installation List in the Gateway (J533 / #19) to include option 69
Updated the Engine Control Module (J623 / #01) Coding
Update the Brake Electronics (J104 / #03) Configuration

Here's what I wasn't able to do:
Everything else on that list. For module 69, I don't know if I have a diagnostic-capable unit, and there is not information in the coding assistant to guide me. For the rest, either there was no long coding assistant available, or in the case of two options that did have helpful information in a popup window, the coding options are only:
0=Not Installed
+1=Trailer Hitch Installed
+2=Optional Parking System Installed

On these two options, the number 2 was coded. Should this be coded as a 3 with the trailer hitch installed?

Same here. You may want to skip re-coding that 6C module for now.

Wow, thank you. I've updated all of my values except the ones for 69 and 6C, and error code 01044 is gone! Success!

I didn't modify module 69 because I have a Swedish-sold Q7, so it appears that the first two bits should be 01. According to the VCDS coding table for this module, these are the values:
1) 0000000000000000 - trailer hitch not installed (PR-1D0)
2) 0100000000000000 - Rest of World (RoW)
3) 0200000000000000 - North American Region (NAR-PR-B34/B35/B39)
4) 0300000000000000 - Australia/New Zealand (PR-B24/B30)

For 6C, did you have any problems performing the camera calibration in VCDS? I've copied down all of the existing measurements and would simply confirm/re-enter them in the calibration process if necessary (looks like it's not necessary - not sure what I lose by not changing this module).

That looks a lot better! By default the RVC should turn off when a trailer is connected so I assume that's the only feature you are missing. I wouldn't mind a visual of the front of my trailer when in reverse on-screen in the vehicle .. especially if it was a flat open trailer and I wanted to see if a tarp over a pile of mulch still looked good at a red light. As you can tell, I'm a little over enthusiastic about garden season and we still have snow in the forecast!

Saving all of the original values should allow you to simply re-save them but some RVC modules need to see the aiming target before they allow calibration. I would skip it (because I don't have the proper aiming tools/target) but if you do proceed please let us know how it works out.

That may be worth looking into before whatever is putting comfort CAN into single wire mode breaks it entirely. Do let us know if you need further assistance related to that. In short, CAN comfort is a 2 wire system and it must be in single wire (emergency) mode since that's a hard fault.

That may be worth looking into before whatever is putting comfort CAN into single wire mode breaks it entirely. Do let us know if you need further assistance related to that. In short, CAN comfort is a 2 wire system and it must be in single wire (emergency) mode since that's a hard fault.

Yes, I would really appreciate troubleshooting guidance or schematics of the CAN bus wires. I've been looking into this and reading about other peoples' experiences trying to find the broken wire. I'm going to have to fix this - it seems I have voltage drain.

Thanks for the explanation of the coding change for the backup camera. I will definitely leave it as is.

Speaking of snow, we just drove 2-1/2 hrs each way for a ski trip today. We had some pretty heavy snow this morning after our route turned north. On the way back we had beautiful weather and I used the ACC a lot. It was awesome to have the adaptive cruise control available (I had no cruise control at all until code 01044 could be cleared with your help last night). My previous Q7 had regular cruise control, so this is the first time I've experienced it.
