This jetta has no horn, I can command it with the scan tool and it works. I know there are other issues he said the windows have not worked for a year but now the horn does not work. he just wants the horn fixed. I pulled the air bag off and the horn signal goes to the steering wheel multifunction module which no buttons work. I have 12 volts and ground at the module and no voltage in any other wire. I also have no voltage at the horn sw and is not shorted. I imagine its a data signal coming out of steering wheel multifunction module into clock spring. I printed alldata diagrams and its not correct. Is there any way to simulate a signal to test the horn. Thanks, Mario

I suspect it's not communicating with the steering wheel control module, which I believe is a sub-system of 09 on this car.

The drivers door sw has water damage that's the reason the windows don't work. I checked for data signal at T16 under steering column I have a data signal that varies one
wire from 2.47 to 4 volts and the other wire from .9 to 2.5 volts. Thank, You

you found the canbus. you need to find the LIN, its white and pink. fix the water damage in the door. it's ruining your lower LIN network, it's now also disabling your MFSW.

I compared to another working car and same data voltage, the difference was the horn sw had 5 volts and the steering multifunction control (little module behind air bag in the steering wheel) has a data signal coming in module unplugged. I will replace the clock spring,

yes but if your door is somehow disturbing he LIN signal (short to GND, 12V, whatever), that's my hypothesis, you can replace all you want on the steering column, it's not going to work until you fix the water damage on the door.
you just verified the clockspring is working just fine.

I agree with Michel here. This is a scan clip from a Canadian market Jetta, from a dealer tech in 2014 that was an exact match to that Long Coding. The car wasn't broke, he sent a scan because the car was new and we didn't have a ROD for the TCM:

I realize the customer doesn't want to fix the car properly but all of those slaves should be communicating to the BCM.


Edit. P.S. I'd unplug the door wiring harnesses up at the A and B pillars if the owner refuses to let you properly dig into it. That should eliminate issues as long as the wiring isn't messed up after the door harnesses and in-route to the BCM itself.

Thank you Dana, I still had the other car here in the afternoon I checked the purple and white wire at clock spring plug the working car had data signal 0 to 11 volts, my car measured 0 volts. I took your advice and unplugged one door at the time and it was in the left rear door the problem. the plug and motor had water damage shorting out the bus line. https://imgur.com/a/QxAhp

Right and since that's a rear door you could leave it unplugged for now. Glad to hear you made progress!
