8030 - Cooling Oil Valve

I have started to get gearbox malfunction warning on dash everytime I change gear. Did quick scan and this came up. I have also googled the error code and it seems like mechatronic foil needs replacing which is quite expensive job. What would you guys suggest?

8030 - Cooling Oil Valve
P179D 00 [036] - Electrical Malfunction

Electrical path issue... wiring harness, terminal, fuse, ect. However, since there is no Auto-Scan, I haven't got a clue what kind of car this is, and as such.... where to start. We ask that you always post FULL Auto-Scans so that we know what we are working with.... otherwise it is just a blind guessing game.... SB32!

NPB trans, looks to have a N509 Gearbox oil cooling valve. Can be mounted on the subframe or at the transmission housing. Just 2 wires for the N509, but wire color can vary. There will be 2 hoses/pipes fitted to the N509 as well.

Fuse SA13 is what provides power for the N509, that goes to /1. /2 goes to the TCM T16a/5. Wires to factory design? Terminals clean? Ohm test the N509, what is the resistance value?

From the full Auto-Scan, I was able to run your VIN in Partslink24 and get the build info on the car and then be able to look at the correct wiring diagrams for it. This info I pulled is from the wiring diagram. You need to have the wiring diagram for the vehicle you are working with:

You need to locate the N509 valve and unplug it and inspect. Do you have power at /1 (terminal 1)? If not, is the fuse #13 in fuse box A (SA13) good?

There is a TPI that describes changing 3 valves in 0B5 mechatronic unit. Those being 2 clutch valves and 1 oil cooling valve.

I think you need to find that TPI and book an appointment to get your gearbox opened and fixed.

Had my car booked with transmission specialist yesterday. They found transmission cooling solenoid and electro plate kit is faulty.

They have quoted me £1100 + vat for parts and labour but won't do the job if I supply the parts. I had word with my local dealer who gave me price of £115 for solenoid but he isn't sure what is electro plate kit?

Does anyone knows what it is and also how much I should be looking at for labour if I get part and go else where for the job?

If Your dealer looks up this TPI, it contains all the needed P/N for repair. I would suggest adding both oil filters also.

The price for just solenoid is weird, because the repair kit alone cost about 440 Euros.

Anyone, do you know where I can find it? Or if not, is there anyway (legal of course, I do not want to put you in an uncomfortable position) that I could get the information from this TSB somehow?

P.S. I have TPI 2030477/10, which talks about the circuit boards for this code (P179D and 8030) however it does not say anything about the 3 valves that are mentioned. So I'm hesitant to replace only the circuit boards if the valves may also be gone.

For TPI's you probably have to search car by VIN (which you should always do) and TPI's (at least here in the EU) are solutions to problems. But they are not listed as such, you should look for the list of possible complaints. TPI's will be the result.

Thanks, I just did the search again in erwinusa with the VIN and this TPI does not exist by the number nor by any of the symptoms.
