    1999 VW Jetta Airbag Codes

Hey guys, new member of the VCDS community. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction on this one. I just bought a 1999 MK4 Jetta 2.0L and there are a lot of fault codes. My main concern(and my wife's) at the moment is the airbag system. The light is on, I scanned the car and 7 airbag faults came up.

    Code:

My horn doesn't work and I've tested both horns (in the front bumper not the alarm horn) and only one of them works. My cruise control doesn't work either so I thought it might be the clock spring at first. Would the clock spring cause all of these issues?

Based on the research I've already done I'm thinking it's the airbag module. A new airbag module is pretty expensive so I want to make sure that it's the problem before I buy one and code it.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I should also mention that my cabin air filter cover was broken causing water to leak down and soak my cabin air filter which led to water dripping under the glove box, not sure if it actually made it as far as the airbag module though. I pulled the airbag module yesterday and this is what it looked like.

The actual connection and wiring harness seemed to be OK, there were no broken wires or any corrosion.

Welcome OP to the VCDS community.
Have a look at these links:

Looks like there are some good odds the airbag ECU is toast due to water ingress or you have a case of short/resistance on the connector.
Be aware that the airbags are now not working.

Also, the photo you try to post is not working.
