Hi,
I only have one key for my Audi A6 C6, pt no 4F0837220D. I was thinking of buy a second hand one, with the same pt no. I gather that you have to programme it using the VCDS, which I have,
how would you go about this, can someone explain for me, many thanks.

Key programming on a 4F car with VCDS? Nope.

Programming a used key to a 4F? I doubt that this can be done even with ODIS and an on-line connection.

Read existing key and clone it to used, new or AFT key.

Shortest path is dealer key with genuine hardware and SVM.

You could try calling bonded locksmiths in the UK would be my first idea, but beware many of the gypsy locksmiths because they will fuck up your car with cloned unapproved tools.

And anyone that says it can't be done very easily, better see an entire new business due to it.

Unsolicited advice: I think that's a terrible decision.

What happens if you lose that key? Then you'll not only be paying for a new key, but also to have the car towed to a dealership.

I'v seen a video on YouTube named, VCDS key remote adaption for VW and Audi cars. And the fellow programs a key, using 46 he went to adaption pressed read and then save, and then remote control adaption, pressed read and brought the new value up to 2, then pressed save. Then passed the button on each key to confirm, the go back and that was it. Was he bluffing?

Adapting the remote and matching a key to the immobilizer are two different things on most VW-Audi Group cars. On some models (the ones with "keyless entry & start" it is done simultaneously in the same module, but in that case it's just as difficult as matching a key to the immobilizer.

What is the difference, if I adapt the remote to the key, would it unlock the door.

Assuming your 4F car does not have keyless entry/start, I would think that you could adapt the remote, yes, and it would open the doors, but it wouldn't start the car.

Nope, on 4F remote is programed along with key programing. In one way this car is keyless, just has option be with it or with out it, Kessy module is part of the steering lock.

On 4B you can do that since has separate remote programing.

OK, I only have hands-on experience with one 4F and it has keyless...
