Jack the news about Audi is the opposite of the reports on all auto sales in China. Yesterday I read a report that auto sales in China are off double digits this year over last year. That is across all brands. So Audi has done well to find a niche in that market where they are growing while others - including VW and Skoda - are taking it on the chin. The China economy is in a recession most say. The Chinese government has yet to recognize and say the economic conditions are a recession. Our distributors mention the difficulties for the Chinese people. The trade war is not the sole reason for this down turn although it did not help China. The recession, if it is ever declared as such, began at least a year ago and more likely 2-3 years ago.
I should go pull the data from which I have drawn these conclusions. Problem is I did not save the articles..
