[h=1]Coronavirus hospital bills: A look at the costs for Americans[/h]
https://www.aol.com/article/finance...s-a-look-at-the-costs-for-americans/23961517/

This is why I want a public option........

Jack: Once again I (as a foreigner) feel the need to applaud and support your plea for public health facilities in America (at no-cost, if needs must)- perhaps it takes something like a public health crises (i,e, covid-19) to highlight that elected Governments should have a responsibility to heal their citizen regardless of their employment status, or their ability to pay! My (our?) view can be regarded by others as either rampant socialism, or just a simple human (even humane) right of every citizen to access health care!!

Well I see this as two problems .

Insurance companies creative unjust enrichment scheme by adhesion contract.

To be compared to a marriage certificate.

Unfair Government mandate that forces you to buy health insurance and than permit the carrier to not handle all aspects.

I'm not saying it should be free either, I just think it should be made feasible, with a transparent cost that is voted on by citizens directly, not by a political faction.

Now if they sent out a census that included such a vote record for households & to be answered by each citizen.

That to me would be correct if a politician was required to vote as specified by the majority of public disclosure.

I'd go as far as making it a new military branch & that handles all aspects of healthcare, since no one seems to have a problem paying for soldiers until they are hurt.
This way when someone gets hurt as a citizen or on a battlefield, they all can get fair humane treatment anywhere in the Country by such infrastructure.

.

Jack: I actually don't believe that you believe the "free" thing! But why not "free" (again, my question might be viewed as heresy in your country - but humor me for the moment)?

Here's my scenario which I have posed before in another place, but allow me to paint the following picture:

You are the head of a major medical facility and you are walking down the street when an indigent woman walking the other way grasps violently at her chest. You then hear her blood-curdling cry of pain followed by a guttural moan as she falls comatose at your feet.

Clearly this woman (in whose face you can see each of her many life traumas deeply etched into a myriad of lines) has had a heart attack. It's obvious that she has no job, no fixed address and importantly, no financial means of paying for medical services - or any services!!

You take out your mobile phone from the inner pocket of your finely tailored Armani suit: Do you dial the ED of your hospital, or knowing that the vagrant woman can't pay - do you instead dial your stock broker to check-out the NYSE market movement?

If you are the honest, humane individual that is evident in all your writings - I have no doubt whatsoever who you will dial!! ;)

Well...trading I have a trained focused ability to remove emotion and do the same with most diagnosis procedures/counter measures while driving etc..

This block ability comes from abuse as a child and I mean real abuse as a protection mechanism in my subconscious.

Back to what I would actually do.

I would take vital signs of breathing and heart rate if any + immediately implement a revival treatment, then after determining I can't personally do something and quickly, make such a call to an emergency person that can and assist a virtual or continue revival attempts until I call it.

If it was something I entirely don't understand & that common sense dictated I'd make a call sooner.

After that I might look at the financial implications of news items by remote viewing of geographic areas.

I process how future markets will react pretty regularly with accuracy and it bothers me much when I get it wrong. I then try to understand how for a similar situation or how emotion must of disrupted a thought pattern.

It's all far from perfect......

The politicians have completely lost their minds with this situation.

Oh, and today they blatantly ignored Article 1, Section 5 of the Constitution:

Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business

There is NFW that the House of Representatives had anywhere close to half its members present for this vote.

And it begins:

German Battery Maker Moll, whose biggest customer is VWAG, has filed for bankruptcy:
https://www.automobilwoche.de/artic...e-batteriehersteller-moll-beantragt-insolvenz
It's been mentioned many times on Skoda owners websites that Moll delivered to Skoda a batch of batteries that expired very rapidly (maybe after only one year) so Skoda have had to replace them under warranty - presumably sending the bill to Moll?

If this is typical of the quality of Moll batteries then maybe their loss is not unexpected?

VW wants to move some cars this month.

Starting today, we at Volkswagen, together with our more than 600 dealerships across America, would like you to know we’re here to help. What’s most important is to keep
you–our community–moving forward.
180 days deferment on your first month’s payment
and 0% APR for 72 months on most new VW models.*
We’re making it easier to purchase a vehicle with 0% APR financing for 72 months. And to help ease financial pressures, we’re deferring the first monthly payment for 180 days.

For highly qualified customers through Volkswagen Credit.

Offer ends 4/30/2020
And we had juuuuuust decided to hang onto the Atlas when the lease comes due in June... now I'll have to crunch the numbers again.

Could be interesting. In some states, car dealerships (at least the car sales part of the business) has been deemed "non essential" and forced to close.

All car showrooms have had to close in the UK, and most dealerships have decided to close their workshops too.
