hi guys,

im new to the forums but i figured id give it a try since the community has helped so many others. my 04 gti (stage 2 tuned) was running great for three years until i got a timing and water pump replacement. after i got the car back i noticed that it would misfire on start up.

i began checking the basics, (spark plugs, coilpacks, pcv ect...) i have done everything i can think of and that of my knowledge. i have taken the car to 3 different VW and Audi mechanics and continue to get the same response, BUT THEY ARE THINGS IV ALREADY REPLACED!!

so here is the problem- when i remove the gas cap and refuel, i put the gas cap back and start the car, the car will misfire and if i leave it rough idling it will stall. if i give it gas the car will keep misfiring for 20 seconds or so and then go back to normal. it will run perfect until i need to refuel. it is only when i put gas. i have even left the car running and put my finger down the filler neck and when the flap in the filler neck goes up the car begins to rough idle.
my latest discovery is that the car runs better with no gas cap. i believe its a vent issue but i pray someone can help me pinpoint my problem... please

-Spark plugs are brand new and gapped to .28 (as needed for tune)
-coil packs are upgraded red tops
-pcv valve brand new
-fuel filter brand new
-gas cap brand new
-no vacuum leak
-injectors are clean and all ticking
-throttle body is clean and wires to sensor redone (checked via vcds running to spec)

i own vcds and have done output test and all type of scans and nothing comes up except for when i refuel and the car misfire ill get random cylinder misfire code and o2 from the car misfiring but no other codes again after i clear them. the car runs amazing, runs hard no issues other than the one presented above.

Hello OP and welcome to the VCDS Forum.

That's a lot of paint thrown at the wall in addition to FOD tuning.

Please post us an auto-scan to see the configuration of this AWP.

What's the deal with the N80 and LDP circuit?

Logs on misfire please?

Now please clear DTC's in all modules and immediately before even starting the engine, rescan and post the new auto-scan.

Thank you
