    drained aprox 1 quart of oil from charge air system. theres an electrical component on turbo. variable vane? i observed oil leaking from one of the pins when i unplugged to look. i also removed valve cover to look for cracks. it doesnt appear to have any

    I would go after the power problem to the ECU first.

    Yup terminal relay or bad wire, but I don't think that is the power cut.


    White smoke huh?

    Sounds like time for a turbo and maybe diverter or so much fuel is in oil by contamination or being over filled it is being remediated into intake of turbo charger and as you aforementioned or by bad bypass possibly PSI positive in the PCV being faulty for check when in boost is entering crankcase as leak and could be the negative deviation DTC.

    thank you both for insight. battery voltage drops low under loads at idle but i dont believe its the cause of power loss either cause it climbs off idle! i had to get towed home it was so bad.

    oil entry appears to be from valve cover. another shop just did gasket my guess is they were looking for cracks too. there is randomly a slight puff back out the intake when idling cold. sounds like valve timings off but marks look on as far as i can see. i know the charging system is a lil weak, perhaps i should start there.
    the owner may have been overfilling with oil, for some reason he thought pan was cracked. ive had for almost a week and level is right where it should be. and no large leaks on floor

    maybe combustion in crankcase as you talked about in your other thread! dont know why i didnt think of that... i have a vac gauge but none for boost... boosted engines ive worked on far less...time to get a gauge...with fresh oil maybe popping back out of airbox will go away. worth a shot...thanks Jack
