Are semi-automatics rifles in common use?
Yes. Go to any outdoor range and see for yourself, Senator.

Saturday I loaded up some lead-free deer hunting ammo in .30-06 using Hornady GMX 150gr bullets, 50gr of Varget powder, S&B large rifle primers, in once fired Greek HXP surplus cases (some of which are older than me!):

Yesterday, Eric and I headed up to Topton so I could sight in my muzzleloader and centerfire rifles for deer season in November. Here's Eric shooting a muzzleloader for the first time:

It kicks VERY hard, much more than my .30-06 Remington 700.

A standard 52" hard long gun case fits perfectly across the back seat of an A3 e-tron sportback, fun fact:

Nice day to be at the range, warm and sunny with very little wind:

First I tested my copper .30-06 rounds that I made last weekend. The first shot went about 3" right so I adjusted the scope and fired the next three shots in a 1 MOA (or slightly less?) group at 100 yards:

That'll do, pig. I cleaned the rifle and put it away to be next used hunting deer.

The muzzleloader is a more elaborate process requiring far more time and equipment:

View through the "Simmons 8-pointer" 3-9x50 scope which is kinda rubbish:

Here's Eric's one and only shot, very not bad at 100 yd:

Kicks like a mule:

This was my first shot with the muzzleloader and I should have just left well enough alone:

... except my breech plug was stuck and I partially disassembled the gun to get it out. After that I didn't trust my zero so I fired my next shot to find it hit about 3 inches from center. After some scope adjustment and follow up shots, I'm fairly content with this minute-of-deer accuracy:

We had fun shooting pistols in the afternoon and observed almost as much brass as gravel on the ground:

Michael has joined the Remington 700 30-06 club:

We were looking for a .308, but didn't find anything suitable in his price range.

It's pre-owned but seems to be in very nice condition. Came with rings, had to add the scope.

I believe Eric would agree with this, except it doesn't mention the 10mm:

ks7 looks pretty awesome.

I really like the foregrip and seemingly lighter racking.

I have a ksg, its pretty bad ass on its own, but yeah it racking it can be a bitch, and I still need an eotech or something to kit it out.

I heard about those Missouri bills.

Even though MO is mostly pro 2A, I can't see it happening though.

What I would love to see passed, is mandatory firearm training in high school.

Along with mandatory driver's ed (where not already required).

I'm amazed this worked (the photography part):

iPhone6Splus in Slow-Mo mode through a cheap Alpen 20x spotting scope recording a Tikka T3 .308 bolt action rifle shooting some sort of normal Fudd .308 (Winchester Deer Season XP 150gr at 2820 fps). You can actually see the bullet travel through the air and then send the clay pigeon fragment to Valhalla.

Speaking of things that are not things:

That's 100 grains of Blackhorn powder pushing an all copper Federal 270gr bullet. The Maxim 50 is quieter than a regular muzzleloader but there's still a sonic boom you can hear so hearing protection is still recommended.

Here's 35 grains of Blackhorn which seemed to be subsonic, the balloon pop might have made more noise.
