Well, I can confirm that it won't go off. After coding and letting the car go to sleep, it was still there. Turned off the whole energy efficiency program display (ADP channel), which removed that menu from the MFI, but the gear suggestion was still there. I played for a while with the engineering menu in the MMI but couldn't find anything that would bring the up an "instrument" MMI menu where this setting supposedly resides. I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't an emissions thing, where once it's turned ON, you can't turn it back OFF for "legal" reasons. IE if the car is tested this way at the EPA, and they shift using the MFI indications, you can't sell it without them...? I'm not 100% positive I didn't have the suggestions when I got my car.

Hey there VCDS community. So since I was unable to get the gear selection indicator turned off, I wanted to try re-enabling it and then disabling it again to see if that would do anything. Will update if that works.

My real questions come from just exploring the 17-Instruments longcoding. I noticed that in Byte4..........Bit5 and 6 are "un-checked"............and I have the lane assist option !? And it functions perfectly without any issues. So why would it be not checked for installed ? And for Bit5....dynamic steering installed, is also "unchecked" but I have that option in ADS?

Lastly, in Byte5..........the box for Adaptive Air Suspension Installed........is Checked!! And I definitely DO NOT have this option? Can someone please shine some light on this for me? Pictures below!

Auto-scan is at the start of my thread.

Thanks all!

We received similar reports like that in the past (For example Brake pad warning not enabled in 17 coding when it exists on the car) and some have logical explanations such as brake pad warning handled by address 09 BCM rather that 17 directly but I do not have an explanation for your observations. Our coding charts could be incorrect .. but OTOH those functions may just not apply to this particular cluster because the car sends/receives data related to things like Lane Change via internal databus.

My advice would be, leave those bits un-checked (off) because I'm certain Audi didn't fail to code it properly from the factory. I'll make sure to mention this file the next time we have a label file meeting to see if we can't clean that up and determine if the facelift (2014ish+) B8 models need an entirely different coding chart.

I would think it is like this:

As checked on www.partslink24.com for your VIN, it has not these PR Number (Production Number / Primäre Eigenschaftsnummer):
PR-1N7 or 1N8, but you have QZ7
No PR-7Y2, but you have 7Y1.
So it showed correct.

Adaptive Air Suspension Installed (Byte 5), is not valid for your model.

About Gear Shift Indicator, what value does it show in channel 75, in [Instrument-17] > [Adaptation -10] ?
