That strategy will not a darn thing update the firmware in a HEX-NET or HEX-V2 interface.... You'd have to take it to the library and use their computer (or put your computer on their WiFi).

I'm not sure you know folks know your product anymore.

consult your real firmware engineers first..just saying..

It's not about knowledge of VCDS, but about knowledge of the VW written firmware in the relevant modules - VCDS just communicates with that firmware and passes on only as much as the VW firmware wants to tell the "outside world".

It's unreasonable to expect Ross-Tech to be THE experts in every version of firmware in every module, in some cases owners of particular vehicles WILL have more knowledge.

You seem to have a chip on your shoulder - which you need to get over.

I’m not sure you grasp the difference between who writes the soft/firmware in the modules and who creates an interface that (you guessed it) interfaces. An interface just translates available data into a different format.

Hi, seems the port is blocked. Any way to resolve it? I am unable to update the firmware. At work, it seems the port is blocked and at home, my Laptop just hangs while updating and I get the not responding screen. Any advice or tips would be very much appreciated.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you're quite close to our distributor in South Africa, maybe 30 minutes? I'm confident they would update it for you and probably also let you try your laptop using their internet connection.

Correct. I sent them an email but they didn't know the cause of the error. They forwarded my details to Andy who seems to be working for Ross Tech. Andy hasn't gotten back to me yet.

Hi,

I did not update my hex-net for over a year. Installed the version 18.9 and installation asked to update the firmware of the hex-net.
This process runs over and over again until 20% (no error, only the 'remaining' number drops until 100) and does start.
Does not seem to finish. Lack of space on the chip to load firmware or something like that.
Runned for over 2 hours and battery drained of laptop. Now running on my PC for hours but still not ready. Still transferring over and over again.

Any ideas or is it normal that it runs that long ?

It shouldn't take that long but there have been a few server problems since the release of 18.9.
If it's stuck in a loop, abort it and try again

Hello gentlemen!

Hex-V2
Last night, I tried to update the interface, for new C.B 0.4505!

After the update, which failed, the interface, forgets that C.B. C.B 0.4505 when I remove it from the USB port.
Blinking red until update, and green after update.
But if I remove it from the USB port, it blinks red again when I insert it!

I can not finish the test because the buttons are gray!

again and again

What version of VCIConfig are you using?

Server status looks nominal from here. It is a major US holiday today, so nobody is in the office to check in more detail.

I sent a private message!
The problem is that every update is forgotten and CB reverts to 0,
as soon as they insert the interface,
and changing the Beta channel in Release or Release to Beta is error !

I tried everything that was human, possibly, including beta, even older versions!
I'm basically turning into a vicious circle!

After the update, everything looks fine, but I can not save anything. Buttons are gray. If I remove the interface from the usb, everything starts from the beginning. I tried and on the car, nothing works because I can not complete the test. The interface has not been used at least 20 times. Basically it's new!

Unplug interface. Let it rest for at least one hour. Go have a beverage in the meanwhile. Then try again. Please use 2.248. If it still behaves the same, I will need the people in the office tomorrow to take a look if they can see something wrong.

Server indicates it is already set to Beta channel, but I think right now, this doesn't matter since 0.4505 is the latest version on both channels.
