Removed ecu and reconnected and was able to communicate to clear codes, car shifts into gear and works just have the abs, brake lights on. Will have to autoscan again

The US standard for VINs requires model year encoding to b unambiguous for a 60-year span, not the 30 year span that is inherent in the 10th digit. Take a look here at the paragraphs below the table. As of 2010, this has forced VWAG to use different 7th and 8th digits in the NAR market as opposed to RDW.. :mad:

edit: just caught myself trying to reason with a german electronic module. bad idea. :facepalm:
