    Error 31: Request out of range - Coding Rejected

    Hello, I'm would like te recode a ecu from manual to automatic gearbox. When I do vcds gives error Error 31: Request out of range - Coding Rejected.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Many modern ECUs have transmission-specific software; i.e. the software part number will be different for an ECU that's meant to be used on a manual vs. an ECU that's meant to be used on an automatic. While these ECUs may have coding information that implies it's possible to change transmission types, if they have transmission-specific software, that software will reject a coding that it cannot accommodate with a "Request out of Range" error.

    UWE is most probably correct, although some modules are the same on both manual and auto models.
    What is the part number of the module you are referring to. What model vehicle are you fitting this to? We can check the current part number and see if it is different for an auto. If it's an engine ECU then VCDS cannot code it as these are flashed with certain variables specific to the car. Contact a chipping tuner who may be able to help.
