My new wife (Canadian) and I are in the middle of a few stressful issues.
K1 (marriage) immigration to USA for her, 9 month old boy, and trying to import her 2008 Canadian GTI only to find out that TPMS is required.
From what I gather, her GTI has ABS and ESP. A VIN search at https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/ show that "Active TPMS" is null.
We are really hoping that the indirect TPMS can be turned on with VCDS, but I'm unsure how to confirm whether it is possible .
I have an 05 Golf TDI and 93 Eurovan so I have a shop that might be able to help with the VCDS to turn on the TPMS. But I want to be informed and know what I'm talking about, at least slightly.
Is there a particular model/part number of ABS that would verify that TPMS can be turned on? Or would a full AutoScan and post here allow some benevolent dictator to confirm?
This car TPMS issue is really stressing my wife out (and me too)... her GTI is in great condition with ridiculously low miles... plus I love driving it too.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
