^^^Thanks for the PM - I've only completed this tweak once on a local forum colleague's car - but this is how I remember it:

In the BCM, enter the magic number (SA) first then make the following changes:

IDE09731-ENG125017-Int. light: 2nd generation-Instrumententafelbeleuchtung mehrfarbig - Set to Active
IDE09732-ENG02312-Interior light: light configuration-Ambient_Farbliste_HMI - Set to Active

The "slider" bar on the MIB in your video has 10 x different colors from which to select. These colors are basic RGB values and they are set by the Adaptation channels in the table below (you will find these in the BCM). If the channels below don't have the default RGB values on your car - you have to create your own colors for all 10 options (remember the German: Rotwert = Red, Gruenwert = Green, Blauwert = Blue).

To help with your selection of colors use something like THIS (just click on a color on the webpage and the RGB numbers are returned (you need a decimal number in the range 0-255 for ALL the 30 x channels in my table below)

Note: on the car on which I completed this tweak, the adaptation channel names were in English (as per the table), but I have a few BCM s in my database that have the German name - Ambientelicht Farbliste - not sure which will be in your BCM.

After the changes above were completed, I recall that I re-set the MIB unit (with the unit switched-on, press and keep holding down the ON/OFF knob until the MIB turns-off and then turns-on again). Then select Car - Settings - Background Lighting and switch from Brightness to Color Setting. This should bring-up the MIB "slider" in your video - which should be populated with the RGB colors that you programmed into the table above. Of course, if you find any of the colors offensive - simply re-code the relevant RGB values!

Please be aware that the value 0 for a color (Rotwert, Gruenwert, Blauwert) is NOT allowed. This will deactivate the color. So take 255,1,1 for simple red. This is my experience from Passat B8 where you actually can extend the ambient lighting from 3 colors (stock) to 10 colors, because with "Ambient lighting plus" option you have the RGB LEDs in your ambient lighting.

^^^ Haldez: Without intending to be a pedant, I recall that the value 0 was acceptable in my table above for the car on which I used the tweak . For instance, to select a "primary" color for any of the 10 x options, then 0 is perfectly OK for the remaining 2 x colors. So - for pure red as one of the options, Rotwert=255, Gruenwert=0, Blauwert=0 is an entirely acceptable set of values!!

The "slider" bar on the MIB in your video has 10 x different colors from which to select. These colors are basic RGB values and they are set by the Adaptation channels in the table below (you will find these in the BCM). If the channels below don't have the default RGB values on your car - you have to create your own colors for all 10 options (remember the German: Rotwert = Red, Gruenwert = Green, Blauwert = Blue).

To help with your selection of colors use something like THIS (just click on a color on the webpage and the RGB numbers are returned (you need a decimal number in the range 0-255 for ALL the 30 x channels in my table below)

Note: on the car on which I completed this tweak, the adaptation channel names were in English (as per the table), but I have a few BCM s in my database that have the German name - Ambientelicht Farbliste - not sure which will be in your BCM.

After the changes above were completed, I recall that I re-set the MIB unit (with the unit switched-on, press and keep holding down the ON/OFF knob until the MIB turns-off and then turns-on again). Then select Car - Settings - Background Lighting and switch from Brightness to Color Setting. This should bring-up the MIB "slider" in your video - which should be populated with the RGB colors that you programmed into the table above. Of course, if you find any of the colors offensive - simply re-code the relevant RGB values!

^^^^ hmmm.... OK, as I said, the tweak worked ok on an Aussie Tiggy that I had here - which belonged to a local forum colleague. I found HERE the original instructions (I used different RGB values because the car owner didn't like the colours in Zloybob's table)

hadez: no problems - all questions welcomed (even if I can't answer them - and there are many that I can't answer here because I just don't know much about VCDS!)

So, to your question - the amount of selectable colours (I'll use the "correct" spelling of the word) is NOT limited to 3. In fact, the amount of permitted colours for each of the 10 x options on the slider is a massive 16,777,216 (256 x 256 x 256), or hex1000000! These colours are simply made-up of 256 shades (including off) of the three primary colours, Red, Green and Blue.

PS: that's the beauty of using hexadecimal - you just need to left-shift the digits to multiply (i.e. 256=hex100 - so 256 cubed is hex1000000)

This was a rhetorical question. I already did extend a VW Passat B8 with Ambient Lighting Plus by factory from selectable 3 colours to 10 colours.

So how should VW limit the number of selectable colours in your headunit to 3?
There are 10 colours in total but 3 are activated by factory.

My assumption: As soon as there is a Zero as one of the values for a colour number, it is deactivated.

I suspect that your answer is that if all three RGB values are zero, the option is disabled (but individual zero is allowable). I didn't know this until your comment above. This might explain TASKIN'S problem. When I implemented the tweak, I fully populated the table in my tweak instructions. If I had access to the car again (which I don't have) I would try making a few of options of ALL zeros. Perhaps you could try

Both. If you do not have RGB ambient lighting in your dashboard or door panels, then this only affects some unimposing little lines in your AID or Discover Unit.

To me, this tweak is useless without having RGB ambient lighting.

I have white interior door panel lighting and believe the LED's are not RGB. However, I hate the mustard color lines within the MIBII. I want the Golf R blue lines instead so hoping this tweak can get me that.

I changed the following, reset the MIBII and don't see the menu section for color selection. Assuming I need to go through the 1-10 rgb color codes and set those up first? What If I only want blue and could care less about the other 9 colors?
