Hi all,

For reasons that are too long to go into, i had a 2016 VW caddy with this unit, and with my iPhone, if it was connected via bluetooth, it would show an icon at the top of the display and read out any text messages when selected.

I now have a 2017 VW Caddy with the same unit, and they have removed this function.

Is there a setting in the adaptation channels i should be enabling/looking for to get this working again?

Thanks.

And you have enabled the feature on your phone? On my phone it was "off" by default.

I can't find anything on the phone message settings to enable this function?

I'm using an Iphone 7

:)

Just found a "Show Notification" setting in the Bluetooth device info so i'll try that.

AFAIK that's for messages received while using rSAP or on the sim inserted in the MIB2.

Interesting.

I know it certainly worked on the previous unit as it had a lovely lady read them out! :D

OK, so far...

For the MIB to shw text messages, the phone has to support the Message Access Profile, which the iPhone does/should...

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204387

As mentioned, in the Bluetooth settings for the unit on my phone, there is a toggle that should be on.

I found on mine that it wasn't, and if i toggled it off, it would disappear from the MIB display, and switching it back on, it reappears.

Even with it on nothing is coming through, however, i am wondering if there is something in the adaptations that i should be looking for?

Have you tried an Android phone on your system? I´m pretty shure you will never see text messages from Apple products because they still don´t support rSAP as I know.

Thanks Andy,

Unfortunately ALL of our phones are iOS.

It has to be enabled on your phone. Go to "Settings" --> "Bluetooth" --> Press the blue "I" icon at your paired MIB-device --> enable "Show messages". Job done.

I´ve translated it from a danish iPhone, so some of the things might be named slightly different.

It works perfectly, and it doesn´t involce rSap ;)

Correct. A PQ platform MIB doesn't have rSap. There are some phone related codings and adaption also that might be taken into consideration.

Hi guys,

Apologies as I completely forgot about this!

Anyway, I have enabled the setting in Bluetooth settings, however I only have the option of “show notifications”.

I now have the inbox, sent and deleted folders but nothing in them.

Is there a particular adaptation I should look for on vcds in a particular module?

Thanks.
