I hope this massage finds you all well and in great health. My name is Dr. Tariq. I am the proud owner of a 2012 Audi A8L W12. The car is fantastic! about 3-4 months ago the germanium lens on the night vision thermal camera gone completely bad so it was replaced with a new one(from a sniper rifle) . here is the thing I have a VCDS and I wanted to see if i can turn on or change the value for the pedestrian detection ( the temp. range to be exact since its hot here ) but ended up going into basic settings and running the reset all function for the camera. Now I have lost the basic setting for it see the error code:


A quick search told me that I need to re-collaborate the camera. I am living in the kingdom of Saudi Araba. so I went to the only Audi dealer in the country to try and do this only to find that they don't and will not even think of buying the tools to do the job....what a good dealer eh. so i am here trying to reverse my bad and i am here asking for help.

I wanted to see if we can code it (security access is needed) or do something to bypass this problem. I am welling to part ways with anything as long as it turns on and no triangle error pops up for me.

Im afraid the dealer tools are the best way to do it. You could have a try and find out what kind of tool they use. For example for the reversing camera or the front assist, there is a board that needs to be made. Many people make it themselves out of wood or cardboard. Works most of the time.

Before the night vision system is calibrated, the event memory must be exported and troubleshooting performed, if necessary. Calibration may only be performed using a wheel aligner approved by VW/Audi. Only the adjusting device -VAS 6430- and basic adjusting device set -VAS 6430/1- with accompanying night vision assistant calibrating device -VAS 6430/6- are permissible for use in calibrating the night vision system.

Maybe see if the local VW dealer can help you out? I think you can't make a DIY version of VAS 6430/6 at home.

Yes, I tried it yesterday and failed. Vcds give me an unknown massage when I tried to collaborate it.

Anyone know the security access code for the vcds maybe we an input the parameters manually??

so no one knows the security access codes for this? all i am trying to do is bypass the collaboration stage and just add basic setting without the collaboration.

Nope, you need ODIS and special tools...

I know this is old, but I wanted to update you guys on what I did to solve this problem. well I tried everything from A to Z and you guys were right. The dealership is the only one who can fix this. Here is a picture of the ODIS & Special tools here at the Audi Jeddah Dealership in Saudi Arabia. lol it seems i was the only one in the country with the problem but since it’s a dealer then they had to order the special tools to do the calibration.

Tariqmshoaib, is your pedestrian detection working after that? I retrofited my night vision and for some reason the warning and pedestrian sight is crossed off even if I turn it on or off in MMI menue.

Did you manage to fix your pedestrian detection after calibration etc? I have a 2017 A7 and retrofitted Night Vision with the same issue you have.
