2009 VW Tiguan SEL -- Radiator Fan Faults
VCDS is pulling the following fault on radiator fan (#2).
I had local shop to a brief "inspection" and they could not find issue.
Can I ignore this fault or should I find a new shop?
I must say that the right-hand radiator fan is running excessively after ignition OFF following routine driving around town (when looking in engine bay from front bumper).
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks -GA

Auto has been fully functional since I've owned (2011).
I did not see problems and/or damage with wiring.

my apologies for ignorance. what are the uses for each of the front two Tiguan fans.
example: if I'm standing in front of car looking into engine bay. there are two fans -- the fan on LEFT is slightly smaller in Diameter vs the right. The Larger fan on right is one I've seen in operation (and also runs as part of standard cool-down following ignition OFF).
any insight would be appreciated. thanks -GA

The RTFB will show the fuse identifiers in the WD.......yeah I would find another shop!
Spin the fans manually and check the radiator for a blockage or obstruction of air flow.

Hello and thanks for msg. This continues to be an ongoing concern for me (primary fan making a HUGE racket every time I shut down Tiguan).
I did not realize I could test the fan electronics with VCDS. I found this nugget via comment section on HumbleMechanic youtube videos.
01-Engine/Output tests/scroll to fan1 test.
both fans do spin up with no surprises. nice and smooth. no odd sounds.
This is Tiguan SEL with dual-climate. I understand that does make a difference on the wiring and use for fans.
At least I know the smaller fan works.

For example: the smaller fan does NOT run when A/C is on.
It is most likely that the fans are damaged from being run out or have poor/insufficient grounds to them...........very common since being made of poor quality parts, starting in the year 2000>.
The smaller fan is to come on when the controller sees the need for step up speed while AC ON when the car becomes hot.
