G85 Steering Angle Sensor locations in Golf-based Mk5 and Mk6 cars
This thread is intended to help sort out confusion about the location of G85 (and therefore applicable procedures for crash repairs and module replacements). Specifically in some Mk5/Mk6 based cars, there is a 44-Steering Assist module for electric power steering while others have a hydraulic power steering unit without electronics or integral sensors.

The location of G85 in Mk5 and Mk6 Golf based vehicles depends primarily on the type of 03-ABS and 44-Steering assist systems that are installed. In some cases the installed 16-Steering Wheel Electronics module type in addition to the BCM/09-Central Electronics module is also relevant. I can't cover every possible scenario but these are some of the most common NAR market examples:
