Hello guys!

I've seen this quite a few times, reading up the forum but ... I think it's for the best to just open a new thread.
Unfortunately, every time I try opening the Long Coding Helper, I get the following:

lSeLgpj.png

I have to accept the Experimental coding in order to see some parameters, most of them are not correctly translated, or translated at all.
Either way, I found the headlight washer system Bit, checked it, saved it, coding accepted.

Wiring is all done, everything is ok, problem is, BCM is just not triggering the washer system relay (J39) .. ( washer fluid level sensor installed, works fine -- enough fluid in the tank ), holding down the windshield washer for more than 3 seconds, with the headlights on, even engine running, nothing happening.

5SGLTbo.png

Connected the relay GND and BCM wire to trigger the switch, works fine, which leaves me with "faulty coding".
Seems like the BCM simply does not want to send current down the washer system wire.

I've sent an Autoscan and the channels admap / measuring values here, at support@rt, last week .. received a confirmation reply.

Any idea ... any other advice ? I'm just trying to split the wire and measure it with a voltmeter, see if there's anything at all flowing through that wire while washing the windscreen.

I'm coming my original post here ( more detailed ): https://uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=70119&start=30

Please advise .. when can I expect my BCM to be supported by VCDS, given it's around for 3 years now ..

Interesting case. This module should have been covered since 2015 and looking at past Auto-Scan's from other customers, it was in fact covered.

Looking closer at your Auto-Scan, there is a communication error which results in VCDS not reading the software part number from this specific control module and only the hardware part number is read. Due to that error, VCDS isn't able to match the proper label file and instead offers the experimental coding info instead. So to sum this up, the communication error is the reason for you not seeing what you need to see and that needs to be addressed.

This is what you should see...

Code:
   Part No SW: 6C0 937 089 HW: 6C0 937 089

...while yours shows...

Code:
   Part No HW: 6C0 937 089

...and now the question is, has this always been the case for you (got any older Auto-Scans to double check?)?

Hello Sebastian and thanks for the fast reply. Sorry for being late, wasn't around today.

To answer your question, yes, it has always been the same. At first, I bought some aftermarket vcds cable, didn't have any idea what Ross Tech is, or anything. Here is a scan from 2 months ago, with the aftermarket cable:

So, when I tried coding it the first time ... I saw the same error ... then I've looked around .. did some research, found out about Ross-Tech and I thought to myself, it's something with the cable not being OEM. That's when I decided to order a HEX-NET V2.

Sad was the moment when I saw the same error.

One thing to mention is that when I try and do the channel adaptation maps, and type in 09 address, there's always this error

hWpNf9j.png

Don't know if it matters, but I click OK, it shows an empty adaptation map channel, where you can either hit add to log or go back, and it cancel's the mapping.

Not sure if it's related, I could make a screen recording if it helps, let me know :)

Please advise

I have seen cases, where non-genuine VCDS hardware caused modules to crash due to communication irregularities, in most cases a power cycle fixed this while in more rare scenarios a full power down was required. What I would do is make sure the module is completely offline by pulling all its fuses (I am not a fan of removing the battery entirely, so go with the fuses first). Leave it offline for at least 15 minutes and then put them back in and try again. In addition, if this was my car I'd talk to my VW dealer and have them update that module. Per TPI 2043247 there is an update which should bump your module from 6C0-937-089-A @ 0047 to 6C0-937-089-D @ 0094 which is IMO definitely worth doing considering how many troubles those BCMs used to have.

I think the battery's been unplugged quite a few times now, working on AFS / BiXenon, for even more than 15 minutes, I'll just leave it unplugged again tomorrow, for more time this round, see how that turns up.

Regarding that upgrade, do you know what it involves ? I'm new to all of this, just got used to electric schemas, BCM, CAN Bus and coding stuff. That TPI thing is over my head ... what exactly do I need to ask them ? Guess it's a software update ?

If so, could I do it myself ? Tried googling it up, since I don't have any VW dealership anywhere near I live .. :(

Found a VW dealership ~250km from my place. Will try scheduling an appointment there, is there anything else I could do or try meanwhile ?

We could do some debugging on our end to ensure the HEX-V2/HEX-NET works properly and doesn't "miss" the part number, though I would leave that decision to Uwe/Eric. I don't see anything right now which you could do in the meanwhile.

I'm currently having a courtesy car and the byte 13 bit 4 is enabled. It goes on the fifth cycle, with headlights on.

Guess then I'll just have to wait until they get me that upgrade. Do you think that would fix this issue though ? Otherwise, only workaround I could think of is to find someone that has my particular BCM and ask him to send me some screenshots with each byte page.

Hey. Yes, it's connected to T46b ( middle connector ) / slot 34 ( double checked ). Regarding the admap ... I'm not sure what I'm looking at.. trying to grasp what adaptation maps are as well

It's just a big long list of all the adaptation channels and their values. MQB platform has a lot of them...

I've added a workaround for the missing sw part number, which should show you coding details. Contact me directly via email please (see signature for address), so I can send you the updated data version.

So, check any adaptation channel with SRA in it (SRA = Schweinwerfer Reininungs Anlage, headlight washer installation in the beautiful German language). See if the settings in the reference scan match your settings.

@Sebastian, good news and bad news. Address 08 ( Auto HVAC ) module works fine now, it is being recognised after doing the update you sent me, so that's amazing, you're onto something here. Bad part is, BCM is still not being recognised, same thing happens.

@iichel, big thanks for the adaptation map! After doing the same settings for the SRA related entries, everything works fine now :) ! God, feeling relieved now.

Interesting, let's see what Uwe/Eric have to say about possible debugging this case further.
