Hi,

I have an airbag light on my S3 (2010). The code from VCDS is:

9437201 - Igniter for Driver's Airbag
B1000 11 [136] - Short to Ground

Any pointers to check before I take it to an auto electrician? Seen various posts on common faults re connectors under seats, clock spring etc. but I've not been able to find an exact match to this code.

Thanks

Mark

This is apparently a UDS airbag module using "B" codes. In airbag modules using older protocols, it would probably have shown up as 00588

The fault code B1000 - Igniter for Driver's Airbag - Short to Ground can be caused by any of the following:
- Faults with wiring, connections
- Faulty F138-Airbag Spiral Spring/Return Spring With Slip Ring (More likely)
- N95-Drivers Airbag Igniter
- Faulty J234-Airbag Controller - (Less likely)

Check the Advanced Measuring Values in the [15-Airbags], look for [Driver airbag igniter]
- This value should = [Correct] - If so, you have an intermittent failure.

If it displays [ Short circuit to ground], then you have hard/live fault that will be a bit easier to find/repair.
