This seems to create an infinite loop, at least for me.
After the install it asks to download ~16MB, runs the whole install, then does it again once VCDS launches, over and over.

Only way I've found to get out is to untick the Run Now after install completes, or click cancel when it asked to update the Data Version.
Same scenario on 2 machines.

It's possible I fat-fingered something on the update server...

[Time passes]

It ain't obvious. Nope. That isn't the problem. I do see what the problem is though. Somebody goofed and it wasn't me, but I should caught it. I put a work-around on the server for now.

Sorry about that!

I'll go re-do the distro now and fix it right.

I've just downloaded and installed the latest Beta 14.7.2 Data Version 20140714. A message says:

Installed data version 20140701
Latest data version 20140714
Would you like to download and install the latest version?

I downloaded it again and installed it but the same message still shows. The download site says Beta 14.7.2 Data Version 20140714 so how come it didn't install correctly. The About says Beta 14.7.2 Data Version 20140701.

Right, the Data Version was specified incorrectly.

It's fixed now.

CB V0.4112 is released, contains improvements to HTTP timing that should make downloads faster to start and more reliable.
Also tweaks to autoscan formatting to make it more in line with classic VCDS

Better check the server; I just hang at:

"Updating: 0%"

"Preparing to update..."

It has been there for about 30 minutes.

I've:

Disconnected and reconnected the Hex-Net from my iMac
Canceled the update and later tried again.

No problem with recent the previous updates.

Shutting down for the night.

Try it now romad - mine just updated fine.

EDIT: Jinxed myself. One of them updated like a champ, the other one is exhibiting the same symptoms as yours :(

EDIT II: Rebooted HN 3 times and it's downloading now... :)

OK, it worked, sorta.

Told it to download the update and it did, then went into rebooting. Error message popped up saying something was wrong with my Hex-Net and the update had failed. Started the download again and was told I was up-to-date! Ran a self-test and got these results:

Test Results:
APP Id (1) CodeBlock V0.4112 API V4
FW version: 0.187.
Dataset: 00000027

K1: OK
K2: OK
CAN: Testing
VCDS-Cloud: OK
Config: OK

The "update failed" message seems to be common. It is a cosmetic problem only and it can be ignored if your version display is up-to-date.

The occasional upgrade download stall also seems to be common. Several people here have hit it, myself included, and I'm not sure what conditions trigger it. Shaun's release notes imply that might be fixed now, but there might be a chicken-and-egg issue: you need to upgrade to have the fix for smoother upgrading. :)

A full set of updates coming at you today. FW 0.196 includes a lot of cumulative tweaks and bug fixes, including changes to TCP timing and Kline handling.
CB 0.4114 has support for wifi FW updates and a fix for certain KW2000 packets with a long format header. Dataset 00000028 has the update file for the previous mentioned wifi firmware, updating it to version 310C. More details in the main post above.

Wow massive update, thanks Shaun.

I think it took 4 or 5 checks to get them all.
Lost track since I was flipping between interfaces
