Looks to me like something in VCDS-Mobile didn't get cleared from the last module you looked at?

Well pardon me for having a Mac, but I need help with the Hex Net Config Utility. Mac is Sierra version 10.12.6 (16G1036). Java is Version 8 update 151. I've tried getting the zip files from this thread (2.014 and 1.963). Both HexNetConfigV*'s here uncompress to V1.959. I've searched everywhere in my user directory and deleted everything that says HexNetConfig, even in something called a Saved Application State directory. So I think I've made sure its not user error.
When I run the utility, I see current data: CB = 0.4407, FW = 0.254, CFB = 0.10, BL = 0.28, and DS = 10000048.
The utility announces an update to DS = 0000050. It gets to a point that says "Getting Block 4". After a couple of minutes, it bails with "Error Code -11".
My dealership erased my changes and I want them back, but I wanted to update the plug in box before doing that. I assume you can get my device serial number?
I have the pid error log, it says the error was outside Java in native code if you want it.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
GB

To update the dataset, the utility will mount the HEX-NET as a usb mass storage drive. Error code -11 is an error with this process. You need to be sure that your HEX-NET is able to be mounted as a drive, you might have a window for example asking you what to do with a new drive you need to click, or you might have some other program that is trying to grab it. Make sure it's not trying to open with iphoto, for example. If you are running in a virtual machine or similar type setup, you might need to make sure the interface is configured to reattach to the right machine. Do you have any anti-virus software running?

So that explains why i get the "disk not ejected properly" error when JarRscrLoader cores out. i finally got the update completed earlier today by just closing the dialogue box about allowing writes to the hex net instead of clicking "ok". thank you for looking at it for me. While I have your attention, I need to ask about the equipment number field displayed in vcds mobile. I tried to recover the changes my dealer took away but vcds mobile reports the number is out of range (by an order of magnitude). I found a thread on this that says to just type in a "legal" value. Does that work and if it does, why is it error-checked? Is the new value actually written to the MMI?
Thank you,
GB

Any random 5 digit number will work for "Equipment Number" if/when that's required.

Mine keeps telling my I'm not up to date, but the updating software says I am up to date. I've been having to use older versions to make it work.

VCDS 17.12 says I'm at:

CB 0.4409.4
FW 0.254
WiFi 310C
and says firmware update required.

Firmware software says:
CB 0.4409
FW 0.254
CFB 0.10
BL 0.28
DS 00000050

You'll need to flip your interface onto the Beta update channel using VCIConfig, as described on the Beta Page in the Release Notes section:
If you are using a HEX-NET or HEX-V2 interface, you must set the update channel for your interface to "Beta" and update it before you can use this version of VCDS.

You need to switch your interface to the beta channel to get the latest testing firmware that goes with the beta version of VCDS.

In VCIConfig, go to [Advanced] -> Update channel [Beta] -> [Change Channel]

Then check for updates again.

EDIT: As Uwe showed above, with the picture.

I have your Beta version of VCDS on my desktop and also the release, should I set the channel for the HexNet to beta in the beta version only, or do I also set the beta channel in the release version?

It doesn't matter which one you use. That setting tells the server which channel you're on; it's not a local setting.

BTW, since we now have a Release 18.1.0, Beta 17.12 is deprecated. :thanks:

I just updated my Hex-Net but all I see on the "About" is this:

CodeBlock V0.4411
FW version: 0.254
Dataset: 00000050

No CFB or BL
No 10000050 dataset

But I'm told that my Hex-Net is up to date. Where do I find the CFB & BL info?

I'm viewing this via my Firefox 52ESR web browser on my iMac
