Sorry if this is long but, wanted to make sure I covered everything.

My Ragtop leaked and shortly after my windows, top, gas release, trunk, dome light, door locks, and brake light would stay on. VCDS could not communicate with module 35. Pulled out the module, checked the board and everything was corroded. (Must have been leaking for awhile.)

Replaced the Central Locking Module, part bought from Audi by VINN number. It matches the original also.

On VCDS autoscan the module(35) communicated and defaulted to code 15900.

Gas release, trunk, dome light, brake light, alarm, door locks work. The windows do not work from inside the car from either the driver side and passenger side. It does however works with with the key in the door lock, windows down when clicking door unlock X2 and windows up when locking the doors. Windows also moves slightly when opening and closing the door.

The ragtop does not move at all, one thing to note is that I'm not getting any indicator or my dash that the top is unlatched. Granted it could be a separate issue but it worked before everything else failed.

So, having used the VCDS for only a few days, could this be coding? I added all codes together and they all add up to way over 15900. Is there a way to see was 15900 activates?

The car is road ready but, would be nice to get the windows and top working.

Any help on direction to my fix would be great. Thanks in advance.

I've been through this, but I didn't 'win' because the owner of the car wanted to try a used controller, which (we found out later) was also water damaged. In a post in another arena in which the 15900 code worked out to be correct, I will copy and paste some responses that technician received. Please take these at face value and make your own decision.

"If it is a TT Coupe or Roadster with a manually operated top the coding is 15884. If it is a hydraulically operated roadster then the coding is 15900"

"If your TT has a manual top the basic coding is 158844 or 15916 for autolock at 20 KM/h. If your TT has a hydraulic top it is 15900 or 15932 for autolock."

Tried both 15900 and 15932 still no luck with windows or top. I'd be happy with just operating the windows from the inside. Thanks for the quick response.

Still trying to figure out how to use the blocks for troubleshooting. It almost made sense before the battery died.

It may have to be manually reset and opened fully to see the apposed switch condition to allow for the switches to operate again.

I've been searching on how to do this. Not sure just yet. Kinda makes sense that it might be a fuse. From what I gather it's somewhere under the dash.

Question: If the driver side window controls don't work, will that affect the passenger side? I was going to try to find a schematic on the system. Does the passenger switch feed off the driver side switches?

Guess I need to find out if I have the tools to bring the top up and down to try the reset.

Yes.........

I played around with blocks this evening and so far it seems I have a bad latch switch. It shows unlocked even with the top latched. I am able to manually toggle the switch to show locked. So on block 09 it shows canvas cover not recognized. Is it a true problem or just software?

Still haven't figured out the window so I plan to open up the door panel tomorrow. Is there a group in block that I can toggle the window switched to see if it's actuating?

Also, I have yet to find a procedure to cycle the top.

Decided to back track and check fuses again, just in case one blew during the repair. Found #6 open. Changed it out and everything is working well, maybe too well. Even got all the key fobs working.

Anyway, I knew that the top was leaking at the seal and needed to use the car as a second since last Christmas. I decided to seal it as a temp fix. Well lowered the top but forgot to break the seal. Shattered the back window. Guess I need to fix that next.

Thanks for all the help and info.

Thank you for the feedback OP.

This is why the JPPSG and "process" are so seriously important.

Engine Code: AMU That's not listed in ETKA engine codes going back to the first PDF.

I checked ElsaWin for that Type Code: 8N9569 and engine code AMU and it shows. Under power unit it shows other engine codes that are used.

If you Google Audi AMU engine code. Sites show its used in America.

APX or AMU

Whats the difference between engines? AMU? BEA? etc.

Manufacturer: Audi, Date(s) Used: 09/2002-06/2006, Model: Audi TT/TTS Coupe/Roadster, Engine Code: AMU, 165Kw, 225PS, 1.8 Ltr, 4 Cyls, Remarks: USA ("USA"): Turbo, Motronic

FMN is shown:
