In regards to 10 - 20K mile ICE water pump, 40K turbos, 80K timing chains, etc... failure versus: Coolant ingress into HV components and/or the day my e-tron 55 gets sunroof water into 8C.

I think the coolant in HV components is gonna say; Hold my beer

No surprise there Sebastian. This is "The Way" in China. Their intention is to dominate world markets. Remember that the government is a 50% owner in all of their large businesses. They are just investing in their long term return.

No surprise at the reaction. Protectionism is a means to control what other countries can do.

Free trade is the best means of exchange but when necessary, governments have to protect their own.

Indeed, I am not surprised either - even though these numbers are new, it was clear that there were subsidies. One of the main reasons why I posted this is, many here in Europe claim our own manufacturers are too expensive and while I agree that their prices are not exactly competitive in the low end market, this informartion helps to have a better picture.

A 10 year old battery with no thermal management. The original Tesla Roadster had similar battery degradation problems for the same reason.

But that Leaf has plenty of range for your commute. ;)

Yeah! That's gonna be me and the e-golf but I doubt I'll give up on it. I could turn it into a legacy bench (for VCDS testing) that happens to have wheels one day :)

Or, really fancy chicken coop when it can't go 30+ miles anymore. It does have a heat pump.

@Dana Since the e-golf has thermal management, it should not degrade as badly as those old Leafs or the original Tesla Roadster.

In an underground garage, eh? I wonder what kind of fire-suppression system they have in there? ;)

People might want to stick with ICE vehicles when launching their boats or jet-skis:
