Edit: although that Q5... hmm.
Pro-Tip: Lease, and for no longer than the warranty period.

These PHEVs are the best of both worlds: They can run full electric on short hops, without one ever having range anxiety.

But they are also the worst of both worlds in terms of complexity of systems.

They're gonna be stupid expensive to fix when things start to break...

But I guess I don't really need to tell the Luxobarge Rescue guy that. :D

^^^^ Auto-Pilot looks mighty confused right around 1:00 in that video ^^^^

From what I've seen on the news... that's TOTALLY how it works in real life :p It was looking for a freeway barrier to plow into, but couldn't find one :D

Will the recharging of EV batteries get faster?
For car batteries, the issue if you charge them in a short period of time is that you need a huge current and huge voltage, and, in the end, you are going to reduce the lifetime of the battery. If you look at the sellers of electricity, they don’t particularly want them to be charged very fast.

This is an admission that will keep the recharge time of EVs much longer than the refill time of ICEs, and deter many people from switching unless/until they are forced to :banghead:

All the majority of Joe Public wants is a vehicle that 'refills' in a time that they are comfortable with, which IMHO means 5 minutes not 30 minutes or more.

Depends on the use-case. For a car I'm using locally (commuting, getting groceries, and so on), I really don't care; I can plug it in overnight and it doesn't matter if how long it takes. But for a car that's used on the road trips that I take somewhat regularly, more than 10 minutes from empty to full is unacceptable, and five minutes would be better.

I don't know, but it would be pretty cool if the car charged the skateboards and they included a handle to make them scooter type boards to get around on.

built-in mini segways would be even cooler.
