Hi,
I'm new to the forum and to audi ownership, but very excited to have recently bought a 2002 TT roadster. The price was great, so we expected a few repairs and were told that the steering angle sensor might be the problem explaining the ESP light being on along with the ABS and brake lights. Cleaning the wheel speed sensors and replacing the steering angle sensor has reduce the number of fault codes in the ABS from ten to three, but it would still seem that the ABS control module is defective.
So we have been looking for an 8N0 907 379 D ABS control module and have been having some trouble locating one. One salvage yard swore that an 8N0 907 379 E would work perfectly well - this one comes from the Quattro of the same vintage as my roadster.
The Ross-Tech question I have comes from looking in the ABS Adress at information shown again here:
Address 03: ABS Brakes
Labels: 8N0-907-379-MK20-E.lbl
Part No: 8N0 907 379 D
Component: ESP

Coding: 23049
Shop #: WSC 01236
VCID: 3D7F304937946BF6B01-4B18
3 Faults Found:
The second info line refers to "Labels: 8N0-907-379-MK20-E.lbl".
What are "labels"? In this label I see Mk-20 - E!!! So are the E and the D interchangeable or can we expect even more fault codes with a Quattro ABS module?
Second question - will we be able to check for the clearing of fault codes without totally reconnecting the brake lines and bleeding the brakes, or is it necessary to do all that first? We only have enough replacement brake fluid around to replace it one time at present - just hoping to do everything at once.
