Uwe

Thanks for those pointers. Here's the situation, I had those codes back in October while my car was still under an extended warranty (Non-VW, sold by the dealer when I purchased the car from new).
After a lot of back and forth with the dealer, the warranty company and VW, eventually the dealer replaced the twin 6V batteries used in the 3.2 EOS (for the third time in 7 years, I believe at VW's expense, they cost $700 per pair) and claimed they'd fixed the problem.

The extended warranty expired at the end of January and about 1 month later the ABS light came on again and reported

012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

Now they are telling me that they need to replace the 1K0 907 379 AC unit (at parts & labor of approx. $2500). I am trying to determine whether they should have replaced the Pump when the first set of codes were thrown back in October and the vehicle was still under warranty or whether what they did at that time was reasonable..

Before I even thought about replacing either the ABS control module or the pump, I'd inspect all the relevant electrical connections carefully for any signs of corrosion, and I'd use a contact conditioner when I put 'em back together even if they didn't look corroded. Then I'd clear the fault codes and see what happens after that.
