MFD Issue

I have a 2014 Golf 7 GTD with discover pro and the MFD is starting to irritate me, the issue is that I prefer to have the digital speed in the MFD but if the phone rings the display then goes to phone which is fine but then doesn’t go back to the digital speed after the call has finished and I have to cycle back through the options to bring it back up

My previous A3 8v didn’t do this and I’m wondering if it’s a feature of the car, a coding issue or maybe a software issue

No faults showing in the instrument cluster

I understand your reticence to include autoscan (because "no faults showing in the instrument cluster"- I assume), but posting a copy does tell those considering your problem what equipment is installed in the vehicle and how the modules are coded. Might help to illicit responses - maybe?

Exactly, the Auto-Scan doesn't just show faults it also shows the hardware and software versions of modules fitted which can be a VERY important clue to any problems being experienced.

So no Auto-Scan often means no help is possible...

Apologies for the delay - here is the auto scan

Now I have an 02 sensor code - funnily enough after the car was recalled to have another one changed grrr

what ive noticed is that the issue only happens when accepting the call using the steering wheel button which is odd but still irritating, the other bit of background to this is that the dealer had the car back in April to fix the issue I had with the radio having no DAB and they updated the software and applied a patch from the factory to get the DAB working, as I'd just got the car I cant see if the issue existed prior to having the radio fixed.

Any advice appreciated before I ring the dealer as although I have a licensed version of ODIS as well as VCDS but I dont have SVM access to update all of the modules on the car,

There are some adaptation channels in that cluster, all under IDE13607. They are labelled "Lock display contents" and there are individual ones for various things that can be locked. I don't know exactly what these do though. One of them is:
IDE13607-MAS16700 -- Lock display contents - Lock MFA displays

If you're brave, you could try playing with that/those.

GXCars: In addition to Uwe's suggestion, I wonder if the SVM DTC could be implicated? Given your comment, I suspect that you may not be aware of the non-ODIS method for dealing with SVM errors.

The trick to clearing SVM errors is to apply the setting in the channel IDE02502-Confirmation of installation change to a simple exclusive-or calculation using the decryption key hex- C9D2 as the second variable. There are lots of ways of doing this calculation (I like doing the calc manually - because I'm strange), but using an online application is probably easiest

Try this:

Copy the setting from the hex 5F module, channel IDE02502-Confirmation of installation change (this is a 4 x digit hex number)
go to the on-line Exclusive-OR calculator:https://xor.pw/# (it may take some time to load - websites that use TSL handshaking are always slow in my experience)
change both I input: and II Input: to Hexadecimal (base 16)
Enter the hex number from the adaptation channel into I Input:
Enter the decryption key C9D2 into II Input:
Press Calculate
Copy the hex number in III Output: hexadecimal (base 16)
Go back to the hex5F module- Enter the SA and go to Adaptation
Enter the copied "Output" number into IDE02502-Confirmation of installation change
Press the magic Doit!! button
Clear the hex 5F DTC

B201A -- "Check Software Version Management " is normally the fault that the procedure you posted will fix.

Thanks for everyone’s help so far, I’ve tried those channels Uwe suggested but it just says not available, unless I need some security access to change them?

I also tried turning off the phone display in the cluster and that seemed to kill the steering wheel phone button as it just says phone not available in the cluster.

I’m wondering if the cluster software is not fully compatible with the MIB unit which Citygate Volkswagen updated as the cluster is the key holder to the whole component protection system and acts as a gateway between the steering wheel and MIB

When the car had the radio fixed I asked the technician if he also updated the cluster as a friend of mine had all sorts of issues with his A3 8v which were resolved by a reflash of the cluster. He said it wasn’t necessary but they did the bare minimum.

I’m wondering at this point if to take the car back to the dealer and ask them to reflash every out of date module in the car, if I had a Geko account that’s where I would start as I believe ODIS can create a test plan and go through and update the modules.

If anyone has any ideas let me know
