EOS 3.2 6 speed swap attempt

[Craz1000]

I am attempting this swap and I am currently at the phase of poking at the modules to see if it will allow me to do the swap. When I try to recode the ECU from 0000078 to 0000072 it rejects it and i get "Error 31: Value out of range."

It is my understanding this ECU will need to be reflashed. How may I go about doing this.

I tried flashing manual R32 software (022 906 032 CD) onto a DSG R32 ecu (022 906 032 CE), and it wasn't sucessful. I flashed it back to DSG and it still worked, so I suspect the hardware is different, though you may have different results. My manual flash file may have had an issue or similar.

Mine was a 2006 Immo 4A ECU - yours is 4C, so even with a brand new ECU, you'll need some additional help with immo coding.

If you want to try manual software, you'll need a flash file from a Euro mk5 R32 with manual trans and IMMO4C (2007 onwards). Then it will only work if the ECU doesn't mind having no 4WD. Idon' think that would be an issue, but you never know! The EOS ECU part number is EOS specific.

HW could be ok, but "conditions" to update not match between , so this is why failed
99% upload BDM backup directly to CPU should work
so the best way is do manual changes in ECU software
or write whole dump via BDM directly to CPU from proper ECU

I was in boot mode, but was using someone elses file, not one I'd read myself. so possible the file was corrupt.

I got the car to turn on and idle fine with the key in the ignition and running a wire from the starter solenoid to a 12v source. It looks like I will have to wire up my own starter relay from the ignition switch directly to bypass the lockout from the transmission not being there. Which is easy. The issue I am running into now is finding a VR6 tranny. The one that was given to me was off a 2.5 and I was hoping it would work but I also knew that was wishful thinking.

No, no half-assing the wiring : you need to rewire the pin from the J519 that usually goes to from the J519 to the DSG trans, and earth it, and code the J519 for manual trans (I think?). I can't recall the pin number (I'm part way through a bottle of Jim Beam Double Oak ). You will NEED wiring diagrams, because you are going to have to wire in a clutch switch too.

You can't use a inline (4 cylinder, and US 5cyl) trans, because the bellhousing angle is different. The pattern is the same, but the VR6 is leaned forward, where the inline type is leant backwards. In the US, the MK4 had an option with 2.8 VR6 and FWD, right? One of those trans, with driveshafts that have the MK5 outer CVs fitted should work. The trans WILL, but I'm unsure which driveshaft will be the correct length. Left side MK4 should be fine with the outer swapped. RHS, I'm not 100% on. I have a 02M (MK4) trans in my Touran (MK5) conversion, but it's 4motion, so I have the angle drive and shorter RHS driveshaft - I had some dramas getting the correct shaft and ended up using a TT one with the MK5 outer CVs.

You CAN use a 4motion trans, and leave the angle drive spinning in mid air... even cooler, building the worlds first 4motion EOS??? Mine wasn't the first 4motion Touran (I think it was the 3rd!) but it WAS the worlds first FULLY functional 4motion R32 Touran though
