Retrofit 3Q0 ABS Pump

Greetings

Please ignore all errors as the car has a flat battery and was involved in an accident and is being charged up. I'll post a proper scan when I've finished the body repairs.

It is a 2014 Golf MK7 that has Part No SW: 5Q0 907 379 AB HW: 5Q0 907 379 H ABS pump which I'm pretty sure is not compatible with blind spot assist, unless someone can advise otherwise.
I think it'll need to be changed to a 3Q0 one. If so would there be any recommendations someone could make or wold any 3Q0 part number suffice? Would it be possible to recode a second hand ABS module or am I better avoiding this altogether??

You ABS block should be fine for blind spot assist. It already has ACC installed so BSM should be good to go as well. You have 30 byte block already. Byte 29 has Rear cross traffic alert coding which is the only thing you need to code to ABS block for BSM.

Mirror wiring is not that bad as it seems. There's not much room to play with the door connector on car side and pulling the wiring through the rubber protecting the wires to the door is not that nice, but it's not that bad.

RCTA bit is the only change required in ABS block. If that is not accepted, then no probs. You'll just don't enable it.

If you want to do the coding already, here's a new coding for your ABS block with RCTA bit enabled :

the mirror thing is the only thing which is holding me back from the BSM retrofit. I don't want to replace the mirrors' glasses because I already replaced them with aftermarket antiglare version, and I am totally in love.

then I thought: the BSM mirror LED must not be much different from a regular LED, so what if I installed just a round LED on the car doors?

It checks the current at startup and if it deviates enough it will disable the BSM system. If you get the resistance correct it should work.
There are videos in youtube where Leon owners have retrofitted BSM system and used leds in A pillars as indicators. Leon uses same 5Q0 modules.

Isn’t there anti-glare BSM mirror glasses available?

The ones I've got are fine, I don't get glare from them. The lights are the mirrors are yellow/orange are its quite cool how it works. They light up when a car is next to you in your blind spot and if you indicate the light starts to flash to warn you. If you then start to turn your steering the steering wheel shakes to warn you that you are likely to crash. The positioning of the lights are just perfect.

Anyway does anyone have any suggestions about the BCM?
I've also just come up with another problem, the dealers won't sell me the plug that goes into the glass, they're saying I have to purchase the entire mirror!! It's a really long and narrow section and I can't find it on ETKA either.

02R-JWPF-VSLE-S - waterproof housing for the mirror
SWPR-001T-P025 - female connectors.

The only trouble is minimum order for the housing is 5 so got a few spare but the connectors is 100! At 4p each it's not much but what a waste.

I'm almost done with the install but I have an ABS pump that is too old. Ive got 5Q0 H31 0557 and the min to make this work is H31 0571 or a 3Q0 pump. Is it possible to upgrade the software or does it need replacing?
If replacing then will my ABS code still work??

if you’re able to find a newer software upgrade should be possible. Otherwise pump upgrade.

The 3Q0 AB pump though has everything. It’s the creme de la creme of abs pumpa

If you’re current pump is IPB the code should be easier to create.
