I'm currently testing my fan control module, I have the 2 thick wires going into the module providing 12v, then the ground and remote wire all working fine.

But after the module going into the fan (2 wires to each fan) I am getting 12v through all 4 wires, are all wires suppose to provide 12v or is this a sign that the fans are bad and/or the module is bad..

I thought 2 would be ground and 2 would be power, or is there another ground for the fans?

Moved to General VW/Audi Repair as the question does not appear VCDS-related.

Hello,

I thought 2 would be ground and 2 would be power, or is there another ground for the fans?

- Without knowing the facts, like what year the vehicle is and what engine is installed, I can only give you a 'generally speaking' answer.

Typically the J293 - Coolant Fan Control (FC) Control Module has the following pin configuration:

Pin 1 = Ground, usually a large brown wire
Pin 2 = 'Switched On' power, small wire
Pin 3 = 'Fan Control' from ECM - PWM signal
Pin 4 = Power, constant - large red and ???

I would highly recommend to use the Factory Wiring Diagrams when attempting to work on these vehicles.

Hope this helps,

drpeter

Yes that all seems right. It's a 2008 A4 2.0tqm.
I'm just confused about the wires coming from the FCM and going to the fans, do you know if they all are suppose to provide power or 2 power and 2 ground..?
