Digging up the dead as I'm testing a new free hosting option....

That one appears to be a poor choice since it won't produce a reasonably sized link to an actual image (a file that ends in an image file type just as .jpg, .png, etc.).

Agree... I was hoping it would allow me to do hot links to thumbs, etc, but no dice... I was all hot for the 10gb cap, but I'll have to use a better alternative.

The best way to post pictures is to upload them to some photo-hosting site. If you don't use a photo-hosting site, try thinimg.com or imgur.com, you don't need to create an account there, you can just drag & drop pictures to it, and they have apps to upload pictures straight from your phone as well.

Once you've uploaded a picture, you'll have a URL for it. Put that URL in between IMG tags in your post, like this:

Or like this:

That will give you a nice photo in your post, kinda like this:

When I upload to there then copy link and past it into the image portion on here it says cannot upload passed link

No idea what you're doing... there are numerous sharing options and types of links to generate from viewer to thumbnails play with it and sort it out.

I posted two pictures in a thread, but I think they ended up very big for the forum..
Do I have to manually resize them before uploading? I'm on a few other forums that autosize pictures, but maybe I'm using the wrong url?

It auto-sizes fine for me, at least right here.

ETA: Both look fine to me in the other thread as well. Caveat: I do this all on a real computer, not some device that fits in my pocket...

Stuff I uploaded to imgur 10+ years ago is still there. E.g. this is one of my earliest pics:

However, I do admit I have an account there, primarily because it allows me to find pictures I've previously uploaded.

You linked to an imgur album. That's fine if you want to embed multiple images contained in an album.

But a a better way to link single images from imgur is to embed a link to the actual image, like this:

That gets you this:
