Hi ,

Posting this even though I didn't finish looking at the car tonight, but I thought I'd post this now because with the time difference I'll loose a day or so waiting for a reply.

The steering angle sensor is coming up as defective. 2 Faults Found:
00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
014 - Defective
01826 - Sensor for Steering Angle (G85); Supply Voltage Terminal 30
000 - -
2 Faults Found:

I tried recoding but it would not accept 40168 but I will read it's coding again and try again in the morning.

Also it has lost the rear spoiler control module. Which I think is 54. Coming up as module not found.

- Are you saying you have tried to 'recode' the [03-ABS Brakes] controller? or are you perform the Basic Settings for the G85 and using [Coding II - 11] ?

You current coding of [0007878] is correct, so I would leave that alone. If you wanted to perform the Basic Settings of the G85, you need to enable the Basic Settings by entering the code of [40168] using [Coding II - 11].

- It explains [Coding II], [Coding] and [Basic Settings]. These is even a video at the bottom of the page.

Correct, address [54] is [Rear Spoiler] (J223) or as Bentley calls it 'Active Rear Aerofoil' control module. ;)

- There are two fuses for the 'Active Rear Aerofoil' control module (J223), Fuse F9 (in rear fuse box) and Fuse F71 under the dash. I would start there.

- We suggest to use the factory repair information when attempting to diagnose these vehicles, links can be found on this Ross-Tech wiki page: Official Factory Repair Information

Just remember that you need good power, ground and a communication connection to be able to communicate with a control module, in this case the (J223) communicates on the 'K-Line'

Thanks for the info.

I will run through what you suggest.

Power, fuses, and feed voltage have caught me out in the past, but the first things I do now.

Well . . . Power supply unit on,
autoscan, log & clear,
fuses,
autoscan & log,
test drive, autoscan and log. Seems overkill to some customers but it seems to be a good starting point??

Just in case anybody else is searching on Bentley GT Spoiler faults. . . . Turned out to be a broken wire in the loom that runs down the boot hinge.
