I'll start with some background info. After owning this S4 for about 6 months and the milage was at approx. 105 000 km, I intermittently started hearing some sublte strange noises when accelerating. I therefore decided to get the car to my local Audi S/RS specialist repair shop, too see if they could find the culprit.
Before delivering my car, there had never been any no warnings/faults in the dashboard. And stupidly of me, I didn't do a fault code scan either. After a couple of hours the repair shop called and said they suddenly experience a dashboard differential warning whenever they started the car (attached picture below). They said the only thing they had done, was to drive the car into their shop, raise the car to have a look under it + scanning for fault codes. As soon as they lowered the car and started it, that differential warning appeared. I picked up the car later that day.
In the following couple of months, the same repair shop has tried 5-6 times to figure out what's going on, without luck. There's several fault codes visible, but the most interesting ones are (1) "invalid data record" and (2) "no signal/communication". This is what they've tried this far:
None of the above has made the fault codes disappear. The repair shop suspects the "0312 - invalid data record" is key to solving the issue, but they don't really know what the underlying issues is, why that fault code is present, or how to fix it.
The only thing I've installed and coded in my self after purchasing the car in late 2015, is a Kufatec Fistune DAB+ tuner. Although that was probably around 6 months before this differential fault started. I'm therefore assuming the DAB tuner has nothing to do with this.

- Replaced the differential ECU
