Hi everyone,

Eugene, Oregon 2014 Touareg TDI (7P6) -- I want to find the code to turn off the passenger side seatbelt alarm. The dealer (Sheppard) said they couldn't turn it off for "safety reasons" which I find to be BS, but they did say you can do it with a VAG connection. I have a Ross-Tech HexCan connection, so just need to know where to make the switch. Could it be here?

You mean the alarm that rings when the vehicle is in motion but the seat belt isn't buckled?

OK, so from the other thread, I gather you have a dog that rides shotgun and he's heavy enough to convince the car that there's someone in the passenger seat...

You can't turn that seatbelt warning off just for the passenger seat. However, you should be able turn it off for both front seats in the Instrument Cluster.

One of the drop-downs for Byte 00, you should have options, one of which should be:
"Seat Belt Warning inactive"

The change Uwe posted will completely disable the seat belt warning. So yes, both alarm types (visual and audible) are off.
Unfortunately you can't just disable one side; so disabling only the passenger alarm is not possible afaik.

An alternative option is to plug one of those devices into the seatbelt socket (effectively a seatbelt clip without any belt attached). Readily available on eBay or the equivilent Chinese trading sites. At least then you don't have to disable the whole seatbelt warning safety system which could be deemed illegal in some countries/states.

If you do this, just be careful you don't fall foul of the law or risk anyone's safety due to you having disabled or bypassed a critical safety warning system.

I've used these guys:

http://www.seatbeltextenderpros.com/

They do a short, rigid extension that could be used.

I got 2 adjustable ones for my wifes car, to make the child seats easier to operate, and they appear good quality with the "E" mark on them.
