2014 Jetta TPMS Activation Questions / Help Needed

SOLVED 2014 Jetta TPMS Activation Questions / Help Needed

So I followed the steps to code the ABS with 5140022 at the end. Changed Instrument cluster to ending with 01. Restarted ignition, TPMS light came on and off like it should. So far so good. Here are my questions,
1. Where can I find the Tire Pressure II (4C)? It's not in the installation list of the gateway. Only 65, tire pressure is there. (Active system?)
2. When I try to contact the tire pressure 65, it says no response from controller. Again, because it's the active system? I unchecked 65.
3. Doing all this is supposed to add the tire pressure info of some kind in the Multifunction thing in the cluster? I don't get anything for tire pressure info?

I think PQ25 jetta not support it
In a fact , if you code cluster to 170A01 how you wnat to reset TPMS warning from cluster menu if you have Lowline cluster w/o any MFA settings ?

As far as I know you can only do that via ABS

Another TPMS tutorial said after doing the coding's that " Tire Pressure" function would be added to the MFI list. I have MFI. ( the info where you can scroll through and see fuel consumption, DTE, temp, etc).
What exactly are you saying changing 22 to 21 will do for me?

Looks like the post I was referring to was a different cluster than mine so it appears that no info is supposed to appear in my MFI, so I'm good for now.

Also, what do these codes do?

The Long Coding Helper has the TPMS bits documented so I'm concerned about the coding modifications. Please post the factory condition scan in addition to the latest condition.

I really need to stop answering my own posts. Anyway, did some messing around just now and here's what i found.

Byte 16, came with A1, checking box "Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS/PR-7K6) installed changes it to A5.
Byte 17, came with 10, checking box Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS/PR-7K6) via Instrument Cluster (MY 2011+) changes it to 14.
I changed byte 19. It came with 10, but changing it to 22 made the TPMS work. I changed it to 21 for fun and it still works, I can't tell the difference from 22 to 21.

So.... question..... Do I need both byte 16 and 17 checked on TPMS or just one? And what difference does 22 make compared to 21?

Here's the latest Dana, I've changed byte 19 in ABS to 21 instead of 22. It seems to make no difference, it works as before. Any comment on that?
I'd like to know how to recode to take out the MFD info since I have the basic cluster. I don't know what code does that.

Thanks for the original coding. The 17-Instrument cluster coding appears to be correct.

All 2011+ Mk6 Jettas had indirect TPMS in the US but 2014 was a problematic year. My mother in law has a 2014 2.slow gas that was born like:

after a TPMS recall which was a flash update. I see TPMS coding discrepancies in the early 2014 scans we have and I suspect VW not only had problems with those modules that the flash resolved but the coding charts may be different as well? alternativesurfer has a scan from his girlfriends car with similar A1100012 coding pre-recall/flash in the thread linked above.

Due to the discrepancies I'm not entirely sure if our Long Code Helper information is correct for this application. The actual installed switch may even be related, I didn't get into the wiring diagrams or parts catalog. If our customer use data is correct, that would have changed your factory code from/to:

Instead, I suspect you should try from/to:

You may want to just revert the ABS to the factory value and make sure Basic Setting Group 042 shows Error (NA) as expected. Providing it does, I'd run a pair of control module maps in the factory condition: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Control_Module_Maps

After saving that baseline information try one of the above coding variants, preferably the 1st to test our documentation and repeat checking BS 042 in addition to a pair of maps.

If you want to continue testing it wouldn't hurt to try the 2nd coding suggestion and repeat the extra steps. It you run control module maps they can be opened with notepad and pasted like the scan files wrapped in [CODE] before and [/CODE] after.

Interesting. The codes you posted show a110 but if I do that coding in mine it unchecked the 2 TPMS boxes. How can a US car come from the factory with that turned off. TPMS is mandatory, so I'm confused.

As far as the code you proposed, I tried the A7 instead of A5 and it seemed to make no difference. The hill hold and TPMS stayed checked as in A5.

As well, I tried 12 as in the 2.0 code you showed, my TPMS light still functioned but caused coding errors faults after for the ABS so I went back to A514xx21.

I still would like if someone could tell me, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES 21 DO VS 22 at the end of the coding? Both seem to work but there must be some effect??

Exactly, which is why the factory condition maps and confirmation basic setting group 042 is not available followed by the maps and BS 042 status with my alternative coding strings would be helpful.

There isn't much documentation for the higher bytes (18 and 19 when supported) but those should apply to things like WSS type, ACC, Blind Spot Detection and Park Assist.

Since we have not determined the bits in Bytes 18+ are related to indirect TPMS directly I would not modify them until the baseline map information from this vehicle in addition to the alternative TPMS coding has been evaluated and we exhaust all other ideas.

Are you asking me to try those alternate codes I tried again with results of the 042 status (epromm reset)? If I'm understanding you let me know and I can do that for you.

However, about bytes 18, and 19, there must be some correlation with the TPMS in byte 19, the FIRST digit in particular because it seems clear that.....
0 - is out of range.
1 - creates the 7K0 condition... no cluster icon light functionality for TPMS
2 - causes the cluster icon TPMS light to function

Second digit in byte 19 is of course my question, 0 causes a DTC fault when used as in "20", but 1 and 2 both work. So tell me, is there anything I can do to help determine what the 1 and 2 do? If so, I'll be the guinea pig, just let me know what to do.

Just a further update, tonight I went out to the car again and returned the ABS coding to factory, no TPMS, and error on 42, to reset the eprom, coding... A1100010. I then took the advice a couple posts back and tried leaving the A11000 the same, which the controller map shows the TPMS as all unchecked. The last 2 digits I changed to 12 as in the posts earlier. TPMS works, and 42 works to reset. No ABS error codes, all seems to work fine. It seems that the controller map is indeed wrong for the BS module. So, if you have a 2014 Jetta NAR with the BS module and your car is Canadian, just change the last digit to 2 and it's all good. Ignore the long coding helper as it is wrong for the BS module.
