Have an ABS issue with lights on dash, the fault which kept appearing was ABS Voltage Supply 1201. When doing output tests the pump also will not activate. I checked the connector and two wires (Supply) had Vbattery and two wires on other end were grounds. I changed the pump adapted module with same fault. I then checked all wiring again and removed ground cleaned them up with sand paper and tried ground somewhere else. Problem still remained. Did a continuity check earlier on ground with no issues. Have no idea what issue could be any help appreciated thanks.

This is the last auto scan please note the module needs adaptation with steering angle sensor, some faults ABS related are due to it being unplugged with ignition on. The voltage supply issue had been cancelled hence not being in the full auto scan. The last scan of the ABS module attached has the DTC I cannot get rid of.

Moving to Car Repair Support. "General" is for things not VCDS isn't pertinent to.

- According to my research, there are three power and two ground connections to the J104- ABS Controller.
If these are 100% correct, the V39-Pump is functional (you can remotely power it) and your 'problem' / fault code still remains the ABS Controller is the only other possible source of the fault code.

- I suggest to make sure the V39-pump can run on the bench and double check all the connectors/wiring to the ABS controller, there needs to be good/strong powers and grounds for the ABS controller to operate the system and if you have a voltage drop under load, that is a problem.

- Always refer to the factory repair manuals for information:

Official Factory Repair Information

Hope this helps,

Where you checking voltage to the module or to the pump itself? This is one with internal wiring to the pump right not the external connector just for the pump power?

Did you replace the entire unit with control module and distribution block/ pump or just the pump/block? Are you getting power through them module to where it connects to the pump/block?

Yeah there are two grounds which are grounded underneath the pump, I cleaned these up with sandpaper and even tried grounding them at an alternative location but was no good. When checking the plug against another identical Audi A4 B7 the resistance to ground of each the the grounds was identical.

I found 5 pins had voltages over 10.5V, with 3 of them having battery voltage. I have a diagram at home I drew when comparing.

Just lastnight I removed the windscreen washer reservoir and plugged the ABS Pump (with module) into an identical Audi A4, the pump worked when I activated it through Output Tests and had no DTCs. Ruling the pump out.

I must have a problem with my wiring has to be a problem with one of the three supplies

I can't find where the power supplies orginate from. I have seen on the internet that a 40A fuse near the ECU is for the module. I ruled all relays and fuses out already.

Another problem (more than likely unrelated) is the interior lighting will not work

How do you mean can the leads carry the actual current ? Surely if they have the correct voltages the wiring should be good ? Or should I find where they originate from and carry out a resistance check of the wire ?

All references I made are to the connector to the module. It's a Bosch 8.0 control module. All wiring goes through the connector. I changed the entire unit twice, I also verified the other units are good.

I checked the pins in the connector and they all look good and do not look damaged or like they would not make contact when connected to the module

Check out the WD, then try running a suitably sized wire from the connector on the pump to the relay/fuse where it should be powered from.

It's possible that a crimp in the harness may be high resistance or the wire is damaged - both could cause a voltage drop when the pump runs and draws many amps.

This is where a tone generator comes in very handy........

So you are saying you plugged in another complete module and it worked right in this car or it has the same error?
Please advise......

In the car which has a problem two different complete ABS Pump (&Module) were fitted.

I then took one of these and plugged it into a good car with no faults for peace of mind and the units work perfect

Probably didn't explain that well enoigh

That is what I am going to try that has to be my problem. More than likely one of the 3 power supplies has too much resistance as you say only noticed when a lot of current is drawn

I meant to reply last week,

I put a Halgoen bulb on each of the power supplies and found a large voltage drop on one of the supplies. I ran a new supply with wire of the cross section. Obviously when measuring with the multi meter there wasn't enough current flowing to see a voltage drop.

Thanks very much to everyone who replied. I will know for future to test correctly, had I done so it would have saved a lot of time
