Hi all

Armed with the Ross Tech guide for recalibrating the 6 speed DSG, I started out, but found that the names of the various tests differered on these later Golfs! I don't know whether it is because the car software is newer, or if it is the VCDS software, but is there a more up to date guide please?

Many thanks

Hi Dana

Thanks very much for your reply. The only problem is downshifts to 2nd not being smooth. No repairs have been completed, or required. VW say no fault, but I had exactly the same issue with an earlier GTI I once owned, and the DSG reset really helped.

Looking forward to a procedure to try.

Thanks

** IDE00024 Transmission fluid temperature

Selector lever in Park

Engine idle speed, do not press accelerator pedal

Parking brake and foot brake applied during the entire procedure. This can be confirmed using Advanced Measuring Values:
* IDE02713 Brake Light Switch
* IDE02714 Brake test switch

0D9 - DQ250 MQB - Basic Settings Procedure:
[Select]
[02- Auto Trans]
[Basic Settings-04]
Select [Basic settings of transmission]
[Show Measuring Data] and select:
* IDE00021 Engine speed
* IDE00322 Status of basic setting
* IDE00024 Transmission fluid temperature
[Go!]

- During the basic setting procedure, there may be some loud gear shifting noises from the transmission, this is normal.

Basic settings may not complete successfully if:
- The fluid temperature gets too hot.
- Brake is released
- Engine RPM is increased

Once complete, there should be an indication of this in the [Status of Basic Settings] Advanced Measuring Value group and Basic Settings should report Finished Correctly..

[Done, Go Back] and Check for fault codes. If you have several Intermittent fault codes stored please [Save] them before clearing so the text can be pasted here with any feedback you happen to have.

Thanks very much Dana.

There appears to be some other resets available, not just basic settings.

Calibration of synchro-points
Resetting of all adaption values
Etc
Etc

I have a work colleague who confirmed that he reset these other things with no issues after (in fact, quite an improvement apparently), but I am hesitant. Any issue with me doing these also?

We do not have documentation for every available basic setting function and our feedback is limited to the steps in the above procedure. I would recommend giving our existing procedure a shot before moving onto any of the additional basic settings this module happens to support.

Basic setting of transmission
Calibration of synchro-points
Erase counter for start and stop processes
Reset CAN installation info
Reset clutch characteristic curve
Reset driving percentages per selector lever position
Reset gear selector data
Reset logging data for clutch 1
Reset logging data for clutch 2
Resetting of all adaptation values
Start double clutch fast adaptation

Any number of the additional groups could have undesirable results but I would specifically avoid Resetting of all adaptation values because some control modules require dealer level online SVM configuration after doing so.

Thanks very much. However, I did end up doing the following yesterday, followed by the defined drive. Does this mean I need to go to a dealer....? I hope not! By way of feedback, the gear changes are much smoother, a massive transformation.

Calibration of synchro-points
Reset clutch characteristic curve (possibly not, cannot recall!)
Resetting of all adaptation values
Start double clutch fast adaptation

I've run a check, and no faults present.

I'm glad to hear that went well! If Resetting of all adaptation values did not create a DTC with scary description such as invalid data record and the transmission still performs properly I wouldn't be concerned. If you saved screen shots or added anything to a VCDS log as you went please share it here.

Thanks. Unfortunately I didn't record anything as I went, but happy to plug in and check anything if requested.

Thanks again.

Hi GE90,

Even if I don't have the same engine (TDI 184), I have the same menu on MQB car (Skoda Octavia).

Can you tell us later how your solution has improve in long run? How long did you noticed improvement ? Has it last for more than 10.000 km ? less ?

Hoping you are still on this forum for experience sharing...

Hi

Unfortunately any slight improvement that there might have been was very short lived, as in less than 20 miles!

Not very surprised actually.... I don't like the autoadapt that tends to turn to eco mode too often I think. I have also noticed an improvement changing the fuel pump module. Try to make a test on fuel pump (engine/test) and see improvement.

Thanks for reply.

I followed the steps to do just the basic settings adaptation reset and I got 4 fault codes.
I cleared them and will report back after tomorrow how the car drives
