Is SFD worthy of forum Lexicon status? If so, maybe in English "Vehicle Diagnostic Protection" - but I'm not sure of the German name that originally seeded the Acronym (perhaps "FahrzeugSchutzDiagnose")?

They use it on their own Concern language, so it seems fine

@AINils :Thanks - I'm always envious of those who understand (and are fluent speakers-of) German language. Much to my chagrin, it's not a skill that I possess!!

how about VZE?

It's VAG's descriptor for "Traffic Sign Recognition" and according to Mr Google, it translates to VerkehrsZeichenerkennung (maybe?)

I imagine that would be "VerkehrsZeichen Erkennung" which translates to "Traffic Sign Recognition".

--------
ASAM - hover on the bold letters and it is defined..
WSC - same...

VCID and VINID are acronyms we use inside Ross-Tech and they provide no meaningful information to those outside Ross-Tech.

ROD - one of several types of files used by VCDS to define the labels and such presented when viewing modules.

CVN - I've forgotten what that one means. Help please!

I've added a number of the above to forum's secret decoder ring. However I can't abide by these:

FSI - Fully Stratified Injection
TFSI - Turbocharged Fully Stratified Injection
None of those engines actually run a "Fully Stratified" mixture. VW tried that on some of the first non-turbo 2.0 direct-injected engines in the early 2000s in Europe and it just didn't work out. I don't remember the exact reason why (perhaps NOx emissions?) but I believe they did software updates on all of them to produce a homogeneous mixture and basically gave up on the idea of running a stratified mixture. Yet somehow the letters "FSI" stuck on all the direct-injected gasoline engines anyway.
