hi guys just wanted to know if their is difference bettween the 2005 2.0 gas engines for oil pressure. my engine code is bbw 2.0 gas. alldata shows 2.7 to 4.5 bar. my car has vvt timing i was wondering if it should have more than 17 psi at idle. the problem im having is the engine will set a code 16395 and 16396 after the engine has warmed up to operating temp. i can see it on group 94 that actual and specified are different after warm up.

Is the timing correct on cam belt?

This engine has a unique 038 series oil pump, in comparison to the other 06A series oil pumps.

It can provide far greater volume for the adjuster unit and crack PSI is the same.

It is more than likely that the sump screen is plugged with sludge, being FOD, or a relief valve is stuck open for bypass or control PSI.

Disassemble and verify.........

Most importantly post an auto-scan in code tags..........

The adjuster unit on back of head could also be faulty or the cam gear has been tampered for advance set point pin internally.

I can verify the variable cam gear, and adjuster unit if you want to send them to me.

hi jack thanks for responding. the timing is dead on verified on 91.3 and 91.4 are both zero. as soon as it warms up and you rev it up 91.4 dose not match 91.3. if you snap the throttle then both of them will match. of course when they dont match it dose not idle well. i have tried another cam gear no differnce. i read a tread where someone had to re position the holes on the cam actuator. i can tell u from experience to pull the cam actuator from the head took a lot of force

sorry jack i have it apart know i will get a scan. i just got back from vacation and i had forgotten that i had started this tread before from 06/16/16. jack u had replied with this,Check/Put the timing belt on correctly based on the taper fit as per RTFB! yes

Did you actually replace the stretch bolt on the adjuster beneath the security cap with seal? yes

Did you bleed the adjustable timing gear and verify it was in set lock pin basic setting? yes, i had the gear off the cam

Is oil PSI/volume correct and is correct oil pump installed? i dont know

Is key-way on crank gear cog not broken? key way is good

Is the adjuster one way solenoid valve on back of head stuck open/closed or contaminated? no and it clicks when activated and its clean

Chances are when PSI drops from oil thinning by heat and the sump is contaminated with fine particulates plugging screen pickup in sump.

Change the sump pickup screen or clean it and inspect by means of flashlight to reveal a blockage when benched separated from pump.

thanks jack, i was hopping someone had gone thru this before. but just to let u know, when removing the solenoid from the head it can twist the sleeve. also if someone knows a better way to remove the solenoid with out scratching the head or twisting the sleeve. going to remove the pan. one more thing i could not find theory and function on this vvt system

Dont worry so much about the noid, it is pretty rugged and will clean up.
The sump is the issue or control PSI housing for filter.

Never ceases to amaze me.............

I have all steel 5 QT pans if interested with a factory gasket and trans shield.

Time cert works well.........

The trick to these stupid aluminum pans is, to use a liquid Teflon paste on threads; and just snug so it doesn't get over TQ, and in wont leak or back out from vibration.

Don't use the 06A oil pump for this car ..........WARNING!

The 038 series pump, is larger for volume, and is what you need, and yeah it's much more money............

Don't mess around with this because you will be liable for an unqualified repair or at least by my DMV regulations.
