Yesterday I tried to update VCDS to 008.0 and it downloads the update to 99% they stops and times out.
Did this 3 times.

Today i tried again and I get "VAG-Com could not connect to update server."

Anybody else having this problem? Before I say it's my netbook?

"008.0" is a cosmetic bug in 15.7. It should be 1608.0.

99% and stops is usually some nanny-ware interfering. What virus scanner are you using?

Work-around: Go to our download page to download and install the new version manually.

I turned off my anti virus protection and download finished all is good.

My brother who is the PC tech upgraded my memory and installed a different virus protection called Avast last week.

So that's why and thanks Uwe.

Same thing happen to me 2 days ago. I have Norton, but was not problem as Norton asked me should I trust it.I just click trust this software and went all way to installation.

I have Avast Internet Security and I had to switched off while installing and installed OK
now when I restart the PC and open VCDS 16.8.0 will not open until I disable AVAST
Any suggestion?

To anyone , In any antivirus program , just go to settings and just do EXCLUDE VCDS.exe form blocking, scanning and etc.
This way antivirus program will never bother vcds.exe.
